Brides close to their dads

Are you doing a mushy song or a fun one? I want to do My Girl by the temptations because it's fun, and my dad would like it. But it's not very emotional. I love my dad but I don't want to do an emotional song because I'll be a total mess. Anyone else feel this way?

I am thinking of the same song! I don't wanna be a mess either, and that song is perfect!

I wanted to do fun, he wanted mushy so I just let him choose.

I felt the same way...I let my dad pick something...he ended up picking 'Thank You for Loving Me' by Bon Jovi

My dad and I are always joking and kidding so it would have seemed perfect to do a fun song but he LOVES Eric Clapton, so I surprised him by picking 'Wonderful Tonight' and he was so thrilled with my choice. Plus, I didn't want to take away from the special moment. JMO and the way I personally feel about my choice

Do you think the song My Girl would take away from the moment? I was also thinking Lullabye by Billy Joel.

The thing is also, my dad is sort of old fashioned in everything including his music tastes. He likes oldies and jazz.

The other problem is that I don't want to do Sinatra because our wedding song is Fascination by Nat King Cole, so I want to keep the really old songs to a minimum so it doesn't take away from our first dance. But my dad is SO not current in his music.

my dad and i are totally silly!!! so we're gonna dance to rod stewart 'reminds me of you'. it such a happy upbeat rhythm and the words are so sentimental.

lyrics:

A cigarette that bears a lipstick's traces
An airline ticket to romantic places
And still my heart has wings
These foolish things remind me of you

A tinkling piano in the next apartment
Those stumblin' words that told you what my heart meant
A fairground's painted swings
These foolish things remind me of you

You came, you saw, you conquered me
When you did that to me
I knew somehow this had to be

The winds of March that make my heart a dancer
A telephone that rings but who's to answer?
Oh, how the ghost of you clings
These foolish things remind me of you

The scent of smouldering leaves the wail of steamers
Two lovers on the street who walk like dreamers
Oh how the ghost of you clings
These foolish things
Remind me of you

How strange, how sweet, to find you still
These things are dear to me
They seem to bring you so near to me

The sigh of midnight trains in empty stations
Silk stockings thrown aside dance invitations
Oh how the ghost of you clings
These foolish things
Remind me of you
Remind me of you
Remind me of you

We'll be dancing to Isn't She Lovely by Stevie Wonder. I don't think either of us could emotionally handle a sappy song!

I am very close to my dad and will be chosing a mushy song, even though I am going to cry my eyes out....

That was our song. We both were crying but we were smiling by the end.

There is no way, no how I'm picking a sappy song! I will be an absolute mess. LOL

Our favorite song is Mambo #5... we dance to it at every wedding we go to. We might just go with that! It reflects our fun relationship!!

I am my father's only daughter and youngest child, so we wanted something sentimental! I almost lost him about a year ago and we chose to dance to 'You Raise Me Up' by Josh Groban. We both know we'll be a mess, but I love him and this is my one moment in the spot light with him!
