Hello ladies. I've been off this site for quite some time. I just had my baby 12 days ago. I dropped the ball on all wedding things. I just received a call from the watermill saying I need to come in and finalize the menu. But I didn't ask if there was a tasting. Then I just got a voicemail from the baker of the wedding cake. She asked for me to call back and tell her what flavors and designs I want. I was under the assumption that was a def thing to go in and taste the cakes and go over the design in person. I don't wanna call back sounding like a jerk if that's not what happens anymore. Do u just pick the flavors and dishes without tasting them? Is that just the Watermill? Please help. Thanks

I'm a Watermill bride too. Not exactly sure how the tasting works or if there is one, but for the cake I know We're supposed to deal directly with the bakery. I would call them and tell them you need an appointment to come And meet with them.

I think like all the others girls said, you have have the right to taste both if you. Just call and schedule. Good luck and congrats on the baby!!

I was told there is no actual tasting but for us to attend a bridal expo that was going on to sample some of the food which we did and I enjoyed but actually wish there was more of an actual tasting. As far as cake I am so confused. . I went to La Bonne Boulangerie (took me an fiance a little over an hour to get there because we live in queens) made an appointment and all thinking we were going for our wedding cake tasting (when we went to the bridal expo at watermill the girl from their handed me the card and said they were the baker) so when I get there I was told no they only are for custom cakes that are not included in the watermill package and only do upgrades (ughh i was so frustrated). Any how I have no idea who the baker is. . if and when I can have a tasting and what the cakes actually look like that are included. So if anyone has this information please pass it along

Im getting married friday at the watermill we had no tasting and picked out our cake design from pictures they showed is. I have no idea who the baker is! I wasnt worried about the food ive never heard anything bad and i honestly dont care too much about the cake, cake is cake to me. We picked a marble cake with fresh whipped cream with cannoli filling. For the entrees we just picked what we thought lookedmgood and asked the BM for recom. On cocktail hour and extra desserts.

I am getting married at the Watermill in November and I was told they usually don't do individual food tastings that you can do that at their bridal expos. I went and the food I had was amazing! The cake, I haven't started thinking about but it comes from a bakery called Macayla Michaels. You can probably call them directly and set up a tasting if you want. They told me the bakery was La Bonne Boulangerie. Maybe they use several different bakeries? I've been to the showcase too and am not worried about the food Selections. Just curious about the cake situation now. If that bakery is only for upgrades then maybe Macayla Michaels is for the one they include? I'm gonna call at some point and find out the deal.

I would call your Banquet Manager and the cake person. Don't worry about sounding like a jerk. Like vppjzv said it's your wedding and you're paying them!

And let me know what happens since I'm getting married at Watermill too! lol

When I booked almost a year and 1/2 ago the bakery was dortonis in Levittown which is my fav bakery! But the last showcase I went to Samantha told me they changed bakeries. I was very disappointed since that was one of my deciding factors on booking them. Since I don't know this bakery from a hole in the wall I would like to taste it. The cake is a big deal to me since I have a huge sweet tooth. I guess I'll suck it up and ask. Lol. Thanks ladies!

I just called the Watermill their new baker is rolling pin 631-647-5112 www.rollingpin.com There are 12 cakes designs for us to choose from and we get 2 filling choices. I asked Watermill about tasting and they said they are not sure if they will do a tasting but we can call and ask. I just called and asked if there are tastings and the girl said yes you have to go online to make an appointment and I asked if there was charge for tastings and she said that the prices are online (not sure if she exactly knew) I also asked if there were pictures of the cakes that are included with the watermill package and she said she wasn’t sure but there are cake pictures on the website and at the bottom of every page the baker’s David’s email address is there are you can email him with inquiries.
