I am wearing Ivory and love it. I was dead set on getting white when we started looking but I looked sick in all the dresses I tried on. So when I started to try on Ivory I loved it and it just complemented my skin so well that I had to get an ivory gown. I don't think its taboo or anything, look at Melania Trump she didn't wear white either.

Lot's brides wear ivory - including me. Wear whatever you want, and whatever you feel will make you look best.

My dress is ivory and champagne.

I'm wearing ivory, and no one has said anything about it being 'taboo'. Actually my mom thought it looked alot better with my skin color than white

my dress is off-white/ivory and i agree with some girls that say stark white doesnt look as good on them. i have caramel colored warm skin tone and the ivory suited it better. i think ti's fine and no one will even really notice. just make sure FH gets invory shirt/vest to match cuz if he wears white your dress will look dingy next to him.

I am wearing ivory/champagne and I love it. I think the color is soooo rich. It brings out your features. White was tooo blah for me.

I wearing Ivory - the white looked horrible on me - even my mom said no to the white - and she's off the boat Italian and is a frequent church go-er... so if she says its ok - I'mnot listening to anyone who tells me it's 'taboo' to wear anything but white

I wore spun gold, which was like an ivory/champagne color. I think one should wear the color that looks good on them. I looked absolutely horrible in white.

I figured I'd put myself out there to make you all laugh.....

I was driving with my mom (a Very strict Catholic) and her cousin one day before my sister's wedding, and her cousin asked her what color is Christina's (my sister) dress???? ' White Of Course!', my mom said.... Her cousin then proceeds to say, 'She's a Virgin????' and yet again... 'Of Course She Is!!!', my mom said... 'Right Gina???' as she is glaring at me... So with the straightest face that I can give, I reluctanly (for the sake of my mom) said, ' Of course she is mom'.... Then my mom added... 'Unlike Gina.... She's wearing IVORY!!!! '.... So her cousin started laughing, and I was mortified... Granted FH and I have been living together for 4 years now, but it's still a touchy subject with her.... Even when we first moved in together she thought we were going to get twin beds .... I then told her that we weren't the Cleavers....

Too funny Gina! Mom's are very funny. When FH and I moved in together FMIL was worried that we wouldn't be able to get married in the Catholic Church!

BTW- I love my ivory brocade gown!

I am wearing a very light ivory color as stark white made me look very pale! Ivory was definitely my color

I'm wearing ivory - the dress I tried on happened to already be ivory - i loved it and didn't want to change a thing - I'm 32, and am not avoiding white because of a purity issue, it's just that I'm not a lily white type of gal, and this dress had gold beading which looked so nice on ivory, plus, I'm whiter than white and didn't want to look naked in my wedding photos with a white dress!!!

NONSENSE!! Nothing is written in stone. Brides today are unique, different. Who cares what people think? You should do what makes YOU comfortable!! I didn't care for myself in white and chose a very light ivory.

I'll be wearing ivory... and to be honest, didn't really give it much thought about not wearing pure white!!! I don't look good in it!

That's Funny too Samantha!!!!!!!

I love my Ivory Gown and wouldn't change a thing... It was softer looking on me... As soon as I put on a white gown, all I could think about was getting tanned before the wedding...
