Bridesmaid Dress Alterations

Anyone have a good, reasonable seamstress in Queens or western Nassau who can alter a bridesmaid dress? I need it taken in on top and basically cut in half because I'm so short. Normally I just go to my local dry cleaners, but the dress has a ruffle down the side and I don't know that I trust them to shorten it properly.
