Bridesmaid Trouble

Original post by ColliMac23

I have had a friend for like 8 years and we use to be inseperable, but now I barely talk to her. I feel like at this point I could change my number and she wouldn't even notice. A lot of me being cold to her is certain people she hangs out with that just remind me of a snake in the grass. It's basically her one friend who is the icing on the cake. Her whole attitude has changed and I just don't hear from her and when I do she annoys me. How do I tell her that I don't want her as a Bridesmaid? Or is that Highschool and to just **** it up and avoid a fight?

I HATE this because I don't want someone up there that doesn't deserve it but if I don't have her it's going to cause a 'World War' between everyone! Esp. between me my MOH and her! What to do!

Yea like it use to be if you knew one of us you knew all of us and the other girl is my sister so we will always be close but I am not having a small bridal party and IDK I just feel like a bad person and my sister isn't making it any easier!

Then when your sister gets married (if she isn't already) then she can have her in her wedding party.

This is YOUR wedding. If it's giving you so much sadness already, then don't have her in the party. The wedding is a little less than a year away. If you are that distant now, imagine what it might be like then. No need to stress. That is not what this is all about. Make yourself happy, the rest will fall into place.

LOL Wrong sister Mel LOL Jenn is on my side hahaha but you prob do know of her. But yea I feel like maybe just having her will avoid a fight and its really not a big deal to have her because its not like I am paying for her dress or anything. But I am annoyed that she doesnt try to have a relationship with me anymore and I know its because we live two different lives now but common! I have 11 Bridesmaids including her. It's just hurting me because at one point she was like a sister to me.

you should feel guilty if you dont include her as a BM. what it comes down to is, you need people in your bridal party who you can depend on, who you know will always have your best interest at heart, girls who will still love you when you start freaking out about florist and dresses and photgraphers and specific shades of purple(haha I have tortured a couple of my girls with that!). If you dont feel like your friend can be dependable, then dont ask her. Obviously its going to come up so there is no way for you to avoid it. When one of my friends got married and I wasnt asked to be a bridesmaid, I was hurt. I never told her I was hurt, but later on she wrote me an email describing why I wasnt included as a BM and she asked me to do other activites (I was in charge of fixing her bustle but sadly the day of the wedding I was too drunk to remember how to do it..anyway!). But you as the bride, should not feel upset or torn or guilty if you dont ask your friend to be in your wedding because 1) its your wedding 2) she has not been that great of a friend to you recently, the stress of a wedding will not make it better and 3) you have other friends and family members who you can count on to help you through this crazy planning process!

I know how you feel. There was about 4 girls who are really good friends of mine who I didnt ask to be bridesmaids and it basically came down to the size of my party and those who I could really trust.

Whatever happens, dont let this stress you out too much and good luck!

If you didnt formally ask any of your friends yet to be BM's then I wouldn't even mention it to her. She might not even say anything and if she does confront you about why you didnt ask her, then you tell her how you feel.

Re: Bridesmaid Trouble

the same EXACT THING happened to me, i basically had a chat with 3 of my good girlfriends (at the time) implying they would all be in the bridal party, and I only ended up putting one of them in and it was kind of awkward. The one I chose to put in is the only one that continuously makes an effort to be in my life and include me in hers. I rarely speak to this one girl and like you said she has a group of friends that i don't get along with and at this point it was just obvious that she continously chose them over me, so while we have a lot of history I found that there was no way in hell that with the realtionship we CURRENTLY have (where she barely talks to me) that she would assume to be in the bridal party, even though it had been mentioned. And my other friend I went back and fourth with, because she was kind of the 3rd wheel, where if the other 2 girls were in the BP she would have definitely been in, but since I only chose one and we're not as close as I think a friend in your BP should be, I didn't include her. One week we talk nonstop but other times weeks go by without seeing/or communicating, and I wanted to choose people that wantedd to be in the BP.

Also I don't think you really need to tell her, if the scenario you described is true, you barely speak, then i don't think she will have the guts to be like 'hey what about me?' cause its like 'hey...we never talk what do you expect?' and she probably knows that.
