bridesmaids and make-up

Original post by MikeandJess

Do your bm's plan on getting their make up done for your wedding? Everyone I've checked out has a minimum and my BM's don't want to pay $100 (which is the cheapest I found) to get their make up done, and I don't blame them! What are your BM's doing?

Im getting my makeup done and letting my BMs do what they want. If they want it done thats fine, but I dont care if they do their own.

I used Jacqueline Nicole--and she has no minimum. BP make up is $65 a person of $90 if you want airbrush. My girls got sooo many compliments on their makeup that day.

I just went ahead and paid for their make up as part of their gift.

I contacted jacqueline nicole and there was a 4 person minimum

Hmm... that's weird! I guess maybe she is getting busy and might be changing? I booked her a year ago, and she told me that a min. wasn't necessary--but I wound up having 5 ppl anyway for her to do.

That sux! Well if you ladies do meet her min. she's great.

oh yeah! der! i do remember that now. best thing for me was that cause we were during off peak--her winter special is that if you get 4 ppl to do their make up (plus the bride)....than the bride is FREE. (airbrush included) so i went ahead and paid for the 4 and didn't have to worry about mine!

(again this is only during the OFF season Jan-Feb)

yes, actually I live in walking distance from there, I might go for a trial tomorrow. I told a few people from work that I wanted to try them out and you had to see the looks of horror on their faces, apparently the women that work at christie's are very nasty.

Really, lol. Maybe you wont have a horrible experience like others did. Pl let me know how it goes. Its close to my house also so I wouldnt mind to use someone from Queens just as long as they do a good job with make up and hair

Well my problem is I'm getting married on a sunday morning and I need to have my hair and make up done very early. Christie's wont even be open. I'd have to find a way to bribe the make up artist to come to me, I'm conjuring up a scheme as we speak

I think $100 is alot to expect them to pay considering they are paying for the dress, shoes, hair, etc already.

no she wouldn't expect them to pay it...Jess is asking bc most make up artists require a minimum of people usually 3 and up...Many wont do just the bride...But she is asking bc she wants to see who she should have trials with bc if its someone who has a high minimum then she wont book without knowing if her girls would like this.

It would be just their choice only, some might want to do this...If i were in a bridal party, and they had a make up artist come id pay to get it done.

Also just her seeing typically do bm's want their make up done

thanks! I was just responding to that but you explained it better

I understand that, I was just saying that out of the 9 girls in my bridal party only one or two were interested in getting their makeup done because it is expensive to add $100 on top of everything else. I know she isnt requiring that they get it done, I was just trying to say that my girls weren't interested in spending that much on makeup

Youll find someone dont worry, well help you find someone great.

Hmmm also for me i would rather get ready at home, having the pics of me at home getting ready, with all my bm's with music on, gotta have the pic of me smoking while getting ready and a redbull in my hand lol

Thanks! After doing extensive research I think I really like the woman I told you about yesterday, I might set up a trial with her soon. She's more expensive but I decided to leave out the chair covers to justify it! lol, the cigarette / red bull picture should be the pic that comes with the thank you card.

Yea I would love to pay for them also but it adds up quickly, especially with 9 girls :)

I got my hair and makeup for my eparty done at a salon by my apartment and both the hair and makeup artist approached me sort of privately and gave me their personal info in case I wanted to use them for my wedding. I know at this particular salon they do not allow their stylists to do this but they do it all the time on the side to make extra money. I know a few of my friends that do hair and makeup say that this happens all the time!! So maybe you won't have to do much bribing at all!

I haven't even spoken to my BMs about that - I really should find out what they plan on doing!

I feel you on that one, I have 7 and as much as I would love to pay for them it's just not possible for me. But on the flip side I would never expect them to pay for me either if I was their BM

Yea, after talking to my BM's about it I found that they were much more willing to spend the money on getting their hair done but not on the makeup.

Exactly i have 9 girls plus me and mom so 11...BUT heres the thing, maureen and claudia do a package for $1250, she stays with you for 8 hours even up until right before the reception to do a touch up...now if i were to hire someone else and the girls wanted make up, well this would mean if most of them wanted it, then it would actually come out cheaper doing the package...bm's make up is usually $150 each which with everyone it would come out to $1650 actually probably like $1800 if you include my make up...with the package the make up for each girl comes out to less than $150.

Part of me just wants to do the package, also bc i would love to have her around for 8 hours, after the ceremony, during pics and before the reception...but depends on how much i would also get charged for everyones hair.

When you go for your trial tomm, ask them if they do house calls, Iam sure they do. Alot of artists and stylist go to the homes to work, if you pay them extra, they will come lol. My friend got married on a Sun, so my stylist that I have been going to since I was 5 is closed on Sundays, and I just told her I have a wedding to go to please do my hair early in the morn, so she opened her store just for me and of course I tipped well as always.
