bridesmaids bouquets and centerpieces

Luckily enough for my fiance and I our parents are picking up most of our wedding. However one of the things we are in charge of paying for is our flowers.... I am all for simple and elegant(after all the only amazing, spectacular looking thing should be me haha) two ideas to reach the goal of being simple elegant and cheap was, instead on giving my girls each a big bouquet I was thinking of giving them each one long stemed white rose with a burgandy ribbon (the color of their dress). Keep in mind I want my flowers to be a deep burgandy roses cascading with white stefonotis in between. I was also thinking of on the tables having floating candles with the deep burgandy rose petals.... do these things sound tacky? I have plenty of time before my wedding but my wheels are always turning... tell me what you think

Re: bridesmaids bouquets and centerpieces

I think it sounds beautiful and elegant..you dont have to go flower crazy to have people be amazed. And like you said, you are gonna be the center focus of the day..so if you dont want to or cant overspend on flowers, dont!

Re: bridesmaids bouquets and centerpieces

I was originally going to do DIY candle centerpieces and a single flower for the bridesmaids also! But then I met with florists and realized that flowers aren't as expensive as I expected them to be. And I am glad I did because once the wedding got closer I had no time to be doing centerpieces!

Re: bridesmaids bouquets and centerpieces

I'm hoping I don't get reemed for this, but depending on the size of your ballroom, it sounds like your CP might get lost. I paid for the flowers myself too and I wanted something simple and inexpensive. I had beautiful CP but in retrospect I really wish I had spent more money because they looked a little dinky in my large ballroom. As for the girls boks, I think a single stem rose might be a little small. If you want to do something single, why don't you do a large calla. It's more substancial and not too much more expensive.

Re: bridesmaids bouquets and centerpieces

My ballroom is rather large, and I see your point about them getting lost. I really like your centerpiece Julz.... loved the candles and everything.... but Im a fall wedding, does anyone know of any similar fall flowers.... just so I could see.... Also where is this florist located...??

Calla's come in many different colors...we used a rich burgundy, which is nice for fall. They also come in a mango color - a sort of orange color.

Re: bridesmaids bouquets and centerpieces

I had a very different look than roses, but mine was in the fall and you asked about fall cp's, so I figured I'd post. My bq had mango colored callas in it.
