Bridesmaids Dilemma

I'm getting married in the winter and my dress is satin and lace. One of my bridesmaids told me that because my dress is satin, my bridesmaids should be in satin. Is this true? I'm putting my girls in black regardless, so I feel like no matter what I put them in, it will look wintery, but is chiffon a no-no in the winter?

Bridesmaids Dilemma

No! I asked the woman at a bridal shop I went to this SAME question and she said there are no rules to this!! Whatever you're in does not dictate when your BMs wear!! I'm getting married in the winter as well and I'm putting my girls in long black chiffon!

Bridesmaids Dilemma

All of those old fashioned rules are no longer followed. Whatever you want your girls in is fine.

Bridesmaids Dilemma

My dress is satin and so are my girls (I'm sorta a matchy, matchy person) I don't think material matters depending on the season it's all up to you!

Bridesmaids Dilemma

Crashing! My consultant told me the opposite actually...she said to pick a different material for your girls so that you stand out! I think chiffon is perfectly fine :)

Bridesmaids Dilemma

If my mom tells me one more time I can't have chiffon dresses for my BMs in the fall I'll strangle her! I don't think we have to abide by these rules anymore!

Bridesmaids Dilemma

Go with whatever makes you happy!! If you're not sure about how it will look, try holding up a satin dress similar to yours when you're shopping for BMs dresses. All salons have all different types of wedding dresses, and you may find a BM dress in chiffon that looks wonderful with your dress!!

Don't listen to traditional etiquette, follow your heart!

This actually makes a lot of sense :) My girls will be be in chiffon dresses for my fall wedding. As for me, I haven't gone dress shopping yet but I don't think I'll end up getting a chiffon dress. This kinda reaffirms it!
