Who pays for and picks out the bridesmaids dresses?

my girls paid for there own and we went together and they decided on the dress, I told them to pick a dress as long as it comes in brown

But I know what I kind of look I want my BM's to have so I am looking for a specific style, but it seems that they want pretty expensive brand names so I dont know what to do. I don't want them to pick their own style for the wedding cause it might conflict with the style that I want. So I was gonna pay for their dresses but It comes out to be alot of money, especially if they have their hopes on brand name dresses. What should I do?

It is traditional for the BMs to pay for their own dress. It's your wedding and you can pick out whatever dress you would like them to wear. Now, I'm not saying to be unreasonable make them wear a $400 orange and lime green poka dot dress, but really, paying for it is one of their responsibilities not yours. You may want to try ordering off of netbride.com to get them an additional discount.

I only have 2 girls we picked together but i had the final say and they pay themselves, the dresses are a little expensive but they said they were fine with that, they wanted the dress also

typically the BMs are responsible for paying for their dress, shoes, hair, makeup (if they want this). as far as picking the dress, some brides do this themselves or with the help of their girls. i went with my BMs to look and we picked one together. i just wanted it to have the look i wanted (tea-length and pink) and be inexpensive and comfortable. i am paying for their shoes as part of their gift bc i want the to be dyed to match (bc they are tea-length).

I am looking for affordable dresses and I assured them that they would look very pretty. I just want them to wear a simple tea length tube dress in tan and a brown tie belt. But it seems that some of the girls would like to wear vera wang and other pricey gowns (like around $300) but I know a couple of the other girls won't be able to pay for a dress like that. And I dont want everyone wearing different dresses. Anyone else going through this? I guess I should just go with two of my bridesmaids and pick a dress and make sure it's affordable and show the other two and when everyone agrees give the ok?

bride picks and they pay for them. i tried to keep in mind each girls figure and what would be comfortable on them! You want them to be happy.... or it will show in your photos

My Bridesmaids are paying for there dress but we all picked out the dresses together. I wanted everyone to like what they were going to wear.

The girls usually pay for their own dresses. It depends on how yuo want to pick them out. I gave them a bunch of choices and they are picking the one they mostly all agree on.

Good luck! This has been my biggest headache and least favorite thing BY FAR!!!! Not to put a damper on things but just choose one place and get everyone together (or as many as possible) and set a day that a dress will be chosen.

I have a certain style I like but at this point, I can bank on not having anything like it because of a hard to fit (and very difficult) bridesmaid.

You pick out the dress or type of dress usually and the BM pay for it. Usually...

Being a bridesmaid and MOH more times thank I prefer to recall. It is usually the bm who pays for it. There are some girls who pick up the cost, but more often than not, the BM pays for it.
I have paid anywhere from $35 (that was my fav, from lord & taylor clearance center) up to $300 for dresses.

With weddings being so expensive these days it's the BM who pays for it and the bride ultimately has the say on which dress it will be.

My BM are paying and picking...I picked the manufacturer and the color and letting them pick there own style they like from Alfred Angelo Seperates...Same bottom and differnt tops

I have been in several wedding partys and I have always paid for my own dress...$200.00 or more....

the girls all paid for their own and i let them pick out any dress they wanted to from raylia that was turquoise satin. that way there they could stay within their budget!
