Bridesmaids Dresses- HELP! (long)

Having a problem with bm dresses. We've narrowed it down to 2 of the same designer but different cuts/fabrics. My sister is my MOH & is the thinnest of my girls. Anyway, she has chosen a dress that we all love but some of the girls are afraid they wont look good in it (its a strappy slim cut one) and prefer the other one that my sister doesnt like....Anyway I told her she should wear a different one than everyone else but she thinks it will look funny because it will be a different color/fabric/dress. I think it will be fine!! How do I come to an agreement!

Bridesmaids Dresses- HELP! (long)

Most weddings that I have gone to the MOH was in a slightly different dress. My MOH dress is going to be in a different dress and color than the rest of my girls but they are similar cuts (the waistline and hemline are the same)and the same fabric. Also the colors are in the same family. The girls are just a little lighter. I would try to stick with the same fabric or find some way to tie it in (maybe with a coordinating wrap?). I don't know how different fabrics would look together. Do you mean like one is chiffon and the other is satin? Can we see a picture of them online somewhere? I have one friend whose MOH was all satin and her other girls were in top velvet and bottom satin which looked very pretty. :)

Bridesmaids Dresses- HELP! (long)

I took the pictures of the two dresses and put them together in one picture. Then I took the straps off of your MOH's dress. The straps were throwing me off a little I think as they were too different from teh other girls' straps. It looks really pretty strapless too. I also changed the color of the MOH dress to a neutral gray to blend more with the white. They look pretty together like that. Do you have an email address I can send the picture to? It's not the best rendition in the world as I am not a graphic artist but I think it will help you get an idea. I really do think it woudl look pretty together if your sister was strapless and then you either did them all in the same color or complimenting tones (like gray and white or tan and brown, etc.) :)

Thanks for your help! Please email me the picture. My sister (who wants the 1225) was going to remove the straps anyway....

Thanks so much for your help. I appreciate it.

Bridesmaids Dresses- HELP! (long)

Just my 2 cents, but it doesn't look like the dresses are going to look right together...I was having the same problem, actually. I wanted by MOH to have a different dress than the BM's, and it was more similar than the 2 you are looking at. Anyway, too many problems arose, and we are putting them all in the same dress, just giving my MOH a different bouquet!! Too much stress over the whole thing!!!

I love both of the dresses, but I have to be honest. From the pictures they just don`t seem like they will go together. Especially since they won`t be the same color. Are you willing to shop around more to maybe find a different style for the BMs that goes with the dress for your sister? Maybe something else by Jim Hjelm in a fabric like the MOH dress?

Thank you all for your feedback. It has helped in my decisionmaking. I love both dresses, but I suppose we could go back to RK & shop some more. I just get so excited when an element of the wedding is completed!! Angie gave me a great idea that I really loved. Hopefully, the bm's will too. Thank you all!! :)

Bridesmaids Dresses- HELP! (long)

I think it is unfair to put anyone in a dress that they are uncomfortable in, especially a strapless slim cut dress. I have a 'hip' problem and I would not apprecaite the super thin girl chosing a dress that she looks great in, but that I would look 'not-so' great in. Lots of MOHs wear different dresses, sometimes in different colors. So it will not look weird at all.

I agree that it is unfair, but I just love the spaghetti strapped dress better!! Plus, it's my sister who is the thin one, she is making this harder for me. I don't want her to wear a dress that she doesnt like either.... Part of me is like: Wait, it's my wedding & I've worn my share of dresses that I hated!! :)

Bridesmaids Dresses- HELP! (long)

I know what you mean about wanting to pick the dress you want. What we did is that we found a dress that we both agreed on and while if I was able to pick any dress in the world freely I may not have picked that EXACT one, i do really like it and I will pick the color(s). It just meant that we had to hunt around alittle bit more. After all, if it doesn't look good on them, the dress won't look good either. Also, I want happy bridesmaids, not uncomfortable ones. Have you ever seen a bridesmaid who hates her dress and how miserable she acts? Truthfully it is not a pretty site (LOL). Your bridesmaids play such a big part what with your shower and everything that I think the happier they are, the better things will be for you. Especially if it is a weight issue. Honestly, I do not think your MOH's dress would look that great on a heavier person. Personally, I would stick with doing the two different dresses, make your MOH's strapless and have the colors compliment one another. It looked pretty in the picture I sent over to you. If you are still unsure maybe you can let your MOH keep her dress and look around alittle more to see if there is another one for the other girls that will also work with it. Good Luck! :)
