Bridezilla Alert - Debs is soon to become homicidal on the guest list

The moms are driving me crazy!!! So I knew that was going to have a 'big' bridal shower. I was thinking 50 was 'big.'

No no, I find out yesterday that the list was 72. 72?!?!? Including random cousins that I've seen 4 times in my life (one of which was my christening when i was 3 months old)

Why? Why would these people be invited? I don't know how many times I've told my mother/FMIL that I like things 'small' and that I didn't want a big shower.

As usual, they ignore my wishes.

Right now we're 12 above my maximum 'A' list. I'm about to start slashing people. I seriously flipped out last night, and couldn't sleep.

I think I'm going to sign a legal document that states that I will never do this to any future daughter/daughter-in law that I might have.

I HATE WEDDINGS

I'm only having 95 including vendors at my wedding.

Well, on the plus side, my friend said 10 already declined.

I'm just having a shower in NY as far as i know, majority is family/fmil's friends.

I'm putting my foot down though. I will not have more than 200 at the wedding, so FMIL has to cut 10 friends, or i'm doing it for her (she alone has over 30 friends that she invited - her and FFIL are divorced).

I went to a shower once that had over 100 women! can you believe that??!!!!! the bride's mom invited EVERY SINGLE woman who was invited to the wedding. they had the shower in a catering hall... there was a wedding going on at the same time as the shower. the bride didn't even know some of her shower guests.

IMO, a shower is an intimate gathering of close friends and family.

i can understand. that i why when i sent a list to my mom i sent the people that are in town. It is hard but she wants to invite tom **** and harry.

That's how FMIL is. She doesn't seem to understand that it's not just the per person price, but extra stamps, extra invites, extra centerpieces etc. ect.

oy. all i have to do is last 3 more months and it's over.

You have my sympathy. Guestlist to me is a headache

95!!!! I am soooo jealous- our intimate list of 125 somehow blossomed to over 159! I just can't say no to people who invite themselves and so far I have not ONE no! I want a max of 144- please pray for nos!

i hear ya, my FMIL gave my mom a list for my shower that has 33 ppl on it...my mom and i didnt even have that amount on our lists...so my mom reads it to me and there some of FH's cousins (i think) all i know is that i never met them..and to top it off, she has my FSIL's husbands mom and his 2 sisters on it who i never see and are not even on my wedding list ( i guess she thinks they are) my wedding looks like i might have about 230-250 ppl there, i cant afford it and i refuse to add any more ppl to this wedding, i need to find ppl to cut!!!!!!!!!

so stressful, i guess we all have to deal with it though

I feel your pain. It will all be over before we know it, HANG IN THERE!!!!
Oh and I think the contract is a great idea!

debs you poor thing!!!!!!! don't worry, everything will work out and you'll have a beautiful shower!

as far as the guest list goes, we invited way more than we wanted to and actually ended up at the number we wanted!!! if you're above on your a-list you should be fine (unless you're considering the 20% that say no and are still over)
