anywhoo.. my real choice of a system but i know it's not an option in capitalist america would be a communist society where the people make sure that ALL the people have instead of a society where just the uber rich have a lot and the poor have nothing..

most of my family in italy is active in the communist party. . .its so hard to think of it as a viable option but they do have some good points

denise, is correct. democrats are way more in favor of government intervention and programs to assist not just the low income but to create a more balanced system for all, whereas traditionally speaking conservative republicans feel that less governement is better.. and that in order to assist and support the lower income you provide tax breaks to the high income and business and then wait for the benefits to trickle down.. the whole reagan era trickle down economics theory.. if u provide more discounts and benefits to big corp's and the wealthy, they will use this benefit to shop more, and spend more and hire more which will in turn help the low income by providing additioal jobs etc etc..

prob is it doesn't quite work. in theory perhaps it sounds good but when the corps take those tax benefits and us them to open up overseas they'e in essence taking the benefit else where..

anyhoo,, i could never and would never vote for anyone who supported this fight for oil war in iraq.. which is why hillary will not get my vote.. no matter how much she back pedals and tries to worm her way out of it, she voted yes without taking the time to even read the report.. i have more respect for someone who read bush's lies and beleived them than someone who didn't give the time of day to even read it.. what was she doing? busy working on her marriage? (dont get mad hil supporters.... its just a joke..)

anywhoo.. my real choice of a system but i know it's not an option in capitalist america would be a communist society where the people make sure that ALL the people have instead of a society where just the uber rich have a lot and the poor have nothing..

communist society doesnt work, yes everybody has the same but guess what it doesnt mean everybody is well off it means EVERYBODY is poor. So yes sounds good that everybody is equal but no room to advance, you most likely will be born poor and stay poor. Then you'll have just a few rich people, which is the way it did work in countries that were communists. My parents grew up in a communist country and I think they will tell you that it wasn't ideal. I visited when i was a kid while it was still communist and will say it is not something anybody would want. When you walk into supermarkets and there is nothing to even buy. I can go on with what i saw. Communism ended there in 1989, and it is such a huge difference when i go now. I dont think any of those people would say they would want it to go back to communism, except for those who did benefit from it but those are just a few people. The people who were rich, were rich because of what they took from everybody so while they lived in huge mansions, drove nice cars, they kept the rest of the country poor and their people.

Can you have room for advancement, many people who have never experienced that lifestyle think so but you really can't. You have such young kids who have to work to even help support families. Look at cuba, you are born into your class, you do not advance. The government regulates even how much rice you can buy a week and milk. They are not given opportunities.

if communism meant everybody was the same at a good level then it would be good, but those who take power keep everybody poor and give them nothing. Even religion is not allowed, now my family went because they didnt stop people from going but it wasn't anything encouraged by government.

i disagree.. a communist society CAN work when it's not run or taken over by a corrupt government or fought against by the few wealthy people who want to be the few haves.. ...as you used as an example- the governement dictating how much rice and milk u are allowed to purchae, in a communist society that is done to insure that everyone gets something..

the reason why the supermarkets and the like are empty in communist countries are not because of communism as a governemental institution, it's beause of democracy bullies like America who insist on levying embargos and trade blocks against those countries for refusing to convert and do as america wants it to do.

it's a much better idea to give everyone something than to just give to the rich and hope that by a chance of a good heart that they'll pass something down to the poor. from my studies, not all communist countries restrict religion.. some might but that sounds more like a dictatorship than a communist society..

I'd be happy with Clinton or Obama...but I'm hoping for Obama. He'll be able to put things in a totally different perspective, I think. It also wouldn't kill me to have a mixed race president in the years I'll be having little mixed raced BABIES.

Same here
fyi voting Democrat will make our taxes go even higher

That's a bit of an over-simplification of what goes on, lol. Republicans have absolutely been known to increase taxes... on who? the middle-class!

in 2006 the republican-lead senate passed legislation to grant $70 billion in income tax breaks ...sounds great eh? guess who got the tax breaks? wealthy Americans and large corporations. the Dems argued against it.

Sen. Clinton even said this about it: 'The Tax Reconciliation bill in its total represents a fiscally unsound and unbalanced package that will mostly benefit the wealthiest Americans. Indeed, under this bill, the average millionaire will receive an additional $42,000 tax cut while middle income Americans will see an average of $20.'

...the only reason i say this is to make a statement like Dems raise taxes and Rep. cut taxes is too broad.

I think it is interesting to see everyones views on this...do I think this country is a true democracy...NO. Do I think everyone should still vote...ABSOLUTELY.

I was speaking to some of the students in the high school I work in and some of the girls said they would vote Obama...when I asked why, they said, 'Well Oprah loves him so he must be a good candidate.' WHAT??????? This is the main problem with this country...people don't take the time to look into the issues themselves and just take someone else's word. I am registered with a specific party however, I look at the platforms that I feel are important to our future...education being #1, immigration, social security, abortion and of course the war in Iraq. I just don't think voters are as educated as they should be for the most part.

I do like to see that we have some politically aware brides here!

yeah thats the point i am trying to make, unfortunately those who run communists country all try to hold their people down. Throughout history this is how its been, and how it always worked out. A person who wants to rule a country where they control their people as to what class they stay in and how much they make, is going to unfortunately be a person who is corrupt and only cares about the control. Like i said, it sounds great on paper but what happens in reality is different and the reality of it is that its always worked out this way.

Like i said, they didnt stop people from going to church. My parents went and even were married in the church in another country so no they were not restricted from religion. Did you have government celebrating religious holidays though? the answer is no. My grandmother has been part of the church since my dad was a kid, so she still went although it was a communist country.

Its not only america they would get food from, america is not the one that supplied a whole country and their only source of food.

Not to mention that if everybody is the same and you are born into your class, then you take away ambition from people, drive, dreams, well they can dream but not dreams where you fight to make them come true. If you are born into your class and you know from day one that you cant become anything more then they are stuck. I personally think things like ambition, drive, hope, dreams are very important to people, their character. Taking this away from people, takes away who they are, these are things we will many times admire most about a person.

Coming from that background, i cant say that what truly happens when communism is put into action is an ideal situation. Like you said, if somebody good rules then its fine, although you still take away ambition from people but still better than keeping everyone poor. But its not what really happens, and im just speaking as to what really happens and what has happened

and yes it was a dictatorship, i said communism fell in 1989 which is when the european countries that were communist overthrew their governments.

totally true. people shouldn't think about party lines and just look at what the politicians really stands for on the issues that matter to YOU whether it be abortion rights, tax cuts, military decisions, charitable contributions, education funds, healthcare rights.
