No offense but what did you expect when you ask a bunch of high schoolers???? Did you really think they would give you a more politically correct answer???

actually...yeah! Some of them will be voting for the election...obviously the school system is not preparing these students to vote responsibly...not just listening to a TV personality. they have no desire to look into the issues themselves. It is really sad!

I'm a republican, but I don't know what I'm voting yet. I don't always vote party line.

i am the same. I wont vote for somebody just because of their party but try to figure out who i personally think would be a better president and fight for the things I believe in.

totally true. people shouldn't think about party lines and just look at what the politicians really stands for on the issues that matter to YOU whether it be abortion rights, tax cuts, military decisions, charitable contributions, education funds, healthcare rights.

Yeah because we wont have any candidate come along that will be the answer to all and save everybody. So the only thing you can really do is pick a few issues that you feel strongly about and that effect you personally and see which candidate stands behind those same issues and feel the same as you do.

Even with the same candidate, you can agree with them about some thing and then disagree about other issues. You kind of have to take the good with the bad.

Sorry to crash -- I found this thread to be really interesting (us Newylweds need a thread like this!).

I'm a registered Republican and will be voting for McCain.

However, if I had needed to choose between Obama and Clinton I'd pick Clinton in a heartbeat -- Obama is completely inexperienced. He also likes to talk a whole lot about 'change' yet he never says what he's going to do or how he's going to do it. And his wife's comments on America are sickening. The fact that she claims she's proud of America now but never before Sorry, but America is a country to be proud of....and if you're not proud of your country other than when your husband is running for President, you should go live somewhere else. I think she's going to get herself and her husband in a lot of trouble if she doesnt learn to keep her mouth shut. Just like Hillary got herself in trouble years ago when Bill was President when she made a negative comment about stay at home moms.

True... and that comment about stay at home moms will haunt her forever. That was disgraceful to women! That was back in 92 and I still get mad when I think about it.

denise, is correct. democrats are way more in favor of government intervention and programs to assist not just the low income but to create a more balanced system for all, whereas traditionally speaking conservative republicans feel that less governement is better.. and that in order to assist and support the lower income you provide tax breaks to the high income and business and then wait for the benefits to trickle down.. the whole reagan era trickle down economics theory.. if u provide more discounts and benefits to big corp's and the wealthy, they will use this benefit to shop more, and spend more and hire more which will in turn help the low income by providing additioal jobs etc etc..

prob is it doesn't quite work. in theory perhaps it sounds good but when the corps take those tax benefits and us them to open up overseas they'e in essence taking the benefit else where..

anyhoo,, i could never and would never vote for anyone who supported this fight for oil war in iraq.. which is why hillary will not get my vote.. no matter how much she back pedals and tries to worm her way out of it, she voted yes without taking the time to even read the report.. i have more respect for someone who read bush's lies and beleived them than someone who didn't give the time of day to even read it.. what was she doing? busy working on her marriage? (dont get mad hil supporters.... its just a joke..)

anywhoo.. my real choice of a system but i know it's not an option in capitalist america would be a communist society where the people make sure that ALL the people have instead of a society where just the uber rich have a lot and the poor have nothing..

communist society doesnt work, yes everybody has the same but guess what it doesnt mean everybody is well off it means EVERYBODY is poor. So yes sounds good that everybody is equal but no room to advance, you most likely will be born poor and stay poor. Then you'll have just a few rich people, which is the way it did work in countries that were communists. My parents grew up in a communist country and I think they will tell you that it wasn't ideal. I visited when i was a kid while it was still communist and will say it is not something anybody would want. When you walk into supermarkets and there is nothing to even buy. I can go on with what i saw. Communism ended there in 1989, and it is such a huge difference when i go now. I dont think any of those people would say they would want it to go back to communism, except for those who did benefit from it but those are just a few people. The people who were rich, were rich because of what they took from everybody so while they lived in huge mansions, drove nice cars, they kept the rest of the country poor and their people.

Can you have room for advancement, many people who have never experienced that lifestyle think so but you really can't. You have such young kids who have to work to even help support families. Look at cuba, you are born into your class, you do not advance. The government regulates even how much rice you can buy a week and milk. They are not given opportunities.

if communism meant everybody was the same at a good level then it would be good, but those who take power keep everybody poor and give them nothing. Even religion is not allowed, now my family went because they didnt stop people from going but it wasn't anything encouraged by government.

I completely agree with Densie... communism definately would not work, and I would leave America if that was ever the case...

Re: BRING ON THE CONTROVERSY!!!!

the only thing im not into about clinton..and this says nothing about her ability or expierence is that

since 1998 there have been either the bush famly or clinton family in office

if you go back to 1988 and add it all up..saying hilary wins and goes for 2 terms that would make it...

1988-1992 - bush
1992-2000 - clinton
2000-2008 - bush
2008-2016 - clinton

im sorry but that would be 28 years this country is run by 2 families..THATS NOT DEMOCRACY..THATS A DYNASTY

I am a registered democrat> I was on the fence for a while but I have decided Obama is the man. I feel like he will bring a change to the country, which we really need right now.

I wouldn't be upset to see a Obama/clinton ballad though

I don't think we will ever see the Obama/Clinton ballad...I don't think she would ever be VP to Obama.

I agree...change is crucial. White Anglo-Saxon males just haven't been cutting it!
