Brooklyn Wedding

Original post by kpaz83

Anyone planning on getting married in Brooklyn as well as having the reception there? If so where are you having the reception at? The hall we are looking to have our wedding at is The Rivera, located on Stillwater Ave near Coney Island. They are offering us a lot of stuff, only issue is they only do one wedding per day so they are booked pretty solid till 2011. We were offered a 10/4/09 date which is a Sunday at 110 PP, this sound reasonable. 200+ people will be there. Brooklyn doesn't have many options and the city is too expensive. We are getting married at a church in Brooklyn so I would like to have the reception near by, going out to LI seems like it would be a lot of driving for my guests. Opinions?

My ceremony will be in Brooklyn, actually not to far from the riviera, but my RH is in Nassau, it's only a 25minute drive, 40min during rush hr.

I've been in two weddings at the Riviera. I had a great time at both. I HIGHLY recommend getting the VH because they do it absolutely amazing. Also, love their chocolate martinis! You would not be disappointed in booking there.

Now, as for the El Caribe, I would say that it is past its time. Please remember this is IMO, and I mean no offense to anyone. But, the place needs to be updated. I went to a bridal showcase there and they have partioned walls, old wallpaper, old chairs and tables, and seems overall tacky.
