Anyone planning on getting married in Brooklyn as well as having the reception there? If so where are you having the reception at? The hall we are looking to have our wedding at is The Rivera, located on Stillwater Ave near Coney Island. They are offering us a lot of stuff, only issue is they only do one wedding per day so they are booked pretty solid till 2011. We were offered a 10/4/09 date which is a Sunday at 110 PP, this sound reasonable. 200+ people will be there. Brooklyn doesn't have many options and the city is too expensive. We are getting married at a church in Brooklyn so I would like to have the reception near by, going out to LI seems like it would be a lot of driving for my guests. Opinions?

I am pretty sure the Botanical Gardens will be extremely expensive but very nice. How is the area around El Caribe?

I'm not sure what it is now, but The Palm House at the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens was about $140 - $160/head a couple of months ago and sounded REALLY willing to negotiate. I would def call them up and get more details.

I actually went to a sweet 16 there once and it was pretty nice. Their wedding menu is about the same price as the Riviera. I dunno, I really really like the Riviera. I was just curious to other options available in the area.

Ummm.... I think I got prices from them a while ago. They have a site fee plus per person catering. I forgot exactly how much but it was well into $250
I'm not sure how the area was... I'm not in Brooklyn too often, my dad use to live in Park Slope..... but thats all the brooklyn I know.
I dont think it was that bad though.
Check them out online... I have to say they had the best CH I've ever been to... It was 1.5 hours and people didnt want to leave it.

One of my work friends had her wedding reception at El Caribe on a Sunday night. The food and service were OUTSTANDING, they did a beautiful wedding (I think her reception was 6-11pm. The area around El Caribe is mafia houses! It was fun driving up to the place, it's set in a community of HUGE over the top homes. The directions they give you on the direction cards are very concise, it wasn't hard to find at all.
**El Caribe is in Brooklyn and failry close to the Belt Parkway. Very convenient for your guests to travel to.
Good luck!

Re: Brooklyn Wedding
Im having the ceremony in brooklyn ( Christian Cultural Center) but the reception is in long island. It seems like a lot for your guest but it really isnt i had the same thoughts. when it comes down to it its about where you want to get married not whats easiest for your guest.
