You live in Brooklyn? I was born and raised here in Brooklyn, most of my guest who live here don't drive cars. Its just a lot to ask of them since they use the subway system and public transportation. All LI really has is the LIRR, would just make things difficult IMO.

Re: Brooklyn Wedding
I live in Brooklyn all by life and so is FH. We live three blocks away from The Riviera located on Stillwell Avenue and Neptune Avenue. We just went to a wedding there on Sunday (FH was the best man).
The Riviera-excellent staff, great cocktail hours and food was delicious. The manager was there at all time to assist and help out. His best friend got the deluxe menu (7 choices) and viennese hour. FH pick the first entree and didn't like it .....The staff at the Riviera offer him another entree afterward....WOW!There's one waiter and one bartender at every table to assist the guest. Very beautiful in the inside as well as the outdoor. Parking was great (The valet staff were friendly and fast!)
FH and I had nothing to complain about. We love it there. We would gotten marry there but our date was not available for them. We check out many place, El Caribe, Pier 5, Gargiulo's and the Riviera...Riviera is the best!
You wouldn't be dissapointed if you book with them. Staff and food are excellent!
Hope this is helpful!

I definitely agree with all of what vnv126 said. My son (older one) had his wedding and it was fabulous.

I don't know how expensive it is, but I know you can get married at the Aquarium out by Coney Island.

Re: Brooklyn Wedding
Checked out the 'El Caribe' today and it was most definitely not for us. Seems like we are now 100% committed to 'The Riviera'

I went there yesterday with the FH and no offense to anyone who was married there or enjoyed the food but it looked so tacky to me. It felt more like a buffet the a hall to me they way they had the room set up. I'm sure it can be really nice with work. After the tour of the rooms we had to sit in the lobby to wait to speak with the owner about pricing, we were waiting about 15 mins before I got fed up and just left, I wasn't happy to begin with so we left without even speaking to anyone. Oh well.

Thats OK... The wedding I went to there had 400 people so I guess it was the best option for them. How was the pricing though... I always wondered.
ETA: i didnt love the ball room with the branches but the food was really good. lol

I couldn't tell you lol, we left before the mystery man came out from behind his office to speak with us. But I did ask the man showing us the rooms, and he said it averages about 100/110 PP
