Re: brunch reception
First, welcome and congrats!
We are actually invited to one later this year. It is at their home...they didn't want anything big. I've been helping with the planning of this and I have to say I think its going to be a lot of fun.

Re: brunch reception
Welcome and congrats! While I've never been to one, I know that if I was invited to one I'd be super psyched. Anything that includes breakfast goodies and mimosas is fab in my book!

Re: brunch reception
Is this the same as an afternoon reception? I think either a brunch or an afternoon reception is nice, it's different so it'll have a unique feel to it.

Re: brunch reception
Welcome
I've been to a few.. years ago. and mostly upstate
my cousins up there live in a small town- like there are only two families that live in the town kind of thing so the majority of parties were held at the fire house... i remember one of my cousins doing a brunch (to be different) her sister (a few years later) put up a tent and had a brunch-ish type reception
I went to one recently that is a friend of the family, their daughter had a brunch at a reception hall.. granted the food was amazing (the bacon was to die for)... it just didn't seem very wedding-ish
if you were to do one.. I'd have one outside under a white tent with lots of cocktails (mimosas- maybe)
Make it your own..

they're different.
brunch serves more eggs, bacon, french toast, etc. (breakfast foods)
afternoon serves more like formal dinners, its just an earlier night

Re: brunch reception
Welcome!
I know Giorgios, The Thatched Cottage and 3 Village Inn all do brunch receptions. I didn't care for the TC brunch package because it was only 3 hours and didn't seem like a 'wedding' to me, KWIM?

Re: brunch reception
I'm doing a brunch reception! I have a few ideas and I've called a ton of halls. I didn't pick one yet though. Send me FM (forum mail) and I will send you the quotes I have. There are a huge range of prices.

Re: brunch reception
WELCOME FH & I went brunch reception at The Manhattan Penthouse (80 5th Ave.) the city last year. We thought it was wonderful, we had such a nice time. It was a refreshing change from the normal reception & we loved the BLOODY MARYS

Re: brunch reception
I went to one last year. The food was really good. It started at 10:30 and everything was great--But---it lasted until like 5pm. It was way too long. There wasnt any dancing so once everyone ate there was nothing to do but chat and drink. I would say that if it ended at like 2 or 3 it would have been great, but without music and dancing it was way too long.

Re: brunch reception
definitely will be lots of mimosas and bloody mary's. i want it to start at 11:30 and end at 3:30. (with dancing) i'm scared no one will dance though.

Re: brunch reception
welcome!! I haven't, but I think it would be an awesome idea. I'd start where the rest of us did, just start researching venues you like, call them and see if they do brunch foods. If not then you may want to book a place that you can hire a caterer and bring in ur own food.
I love brunch and would be excited if a friend or family member had a brunch reception!
goodluck!!
Edited... I would dance at any time of the day!!
