what is everyones budget if you have one?? i seem to be very stressed with this one i can not believe how much everything is costing.....
any helpful ideas are greatly appriciated

my eparty is booked at a hall and is given to us by both sets of parents...the budget is about 13000 we are having 200pp

my RH saturday 11~15~08 is after tax and tip about 175pp and i am having about 275people

my video/photo (i added so many extras i just love pictures and thses are my memories) 9500

church 600

that is what is booked so far but what i have thought of for the rest is following does it sound correct:
dj 5000
limos 3500
flowers 5500
invitations 1500
favors no more then $5 each
bridal party gifts 2500 (i have about 24pp all together)
(can not forget all the little extras that add up)

15 months to save for this

For Dj you'll most likely pay lower...Although depends who you go with and what package you get. If you get percussionist, sax, or other live instruments, plasma's, photo montages and all that it can add up, most companies will be under 5k, but theres 2 dj companies i know of in that range...Are you looking to get all that in your package?

limo's- again it will probably be lower...i have 50 passenger party bus and a rolls royce and its lower than what you quoted

flowers-it might be lower than that, depends on what type of cp's, bok's, ceremony flowers you decide on and also depends on how many cp's, bok's and all that you'll need

honestly, I think that you overestimated as stated before, but don't forget that you CAN negotiate with MOST vendors. Even your RH!!!! Just because someone says that their service or product is X amount, DOES NOT mean that you have to PAY X amount. Negotiate!!!!!! If you aren't good at that, bring someone who is!!

I negotiated the hell out of my RH, got a ton of stuff thrown in, the list goes on....same thing with my DJ....and not for nothing.....he was the hardest one to negotiate with!!! For flowers---i always felt that they were the hardest to negotiate with, but it's still possible.

oooh you hi balled most of it, maybe get some pricing from girls on here for vendors you like to get a more accurate account of what you have to save~in any event good luck saving, i know it's hard, i've been eating raman noodles this week! LOL! JK! it's bologna sandwiches all the way!

u can def. find better prices than that.. we are going over our budget by like 4,000 and we still got lower prices than that!! Def. shop around!!!

thank you girls i suppose i did high estimate the vendors and when i go to start booking everything else i will negociate with lower numbers...

i think my budget is coming out more too for my reception hall because it is a saturday night and i put EVERYTHING in it....i wanted the xrtas at the cocktail and i wanted the full vaniese hour...and on the guest list we have abaout 279 which will probably be a little more by nov 08.....

We decided on not going any higher than 50K but it's going to look like it will be around 40K for the whole thing. Average for a NY wedding. Here are the major ones.

Reception: 13500-16000 (pending on the final date and number)

Photography: 2500

DJ: 1050

HM: 3250

Limo: 800

Dress: 575

Flowers: ??? haven't visit yet

That seems very low for a ny metro area wedding.

my budget is definitely lower than that =p .. cause well .. my HM is 15k ... negotiate!!!

a dj shouldn't be $5,000...if you're spending $5,000 on a dj then you might as well spend $1,000 more and get a band. most bands quoted me $6,000 while Dj's go anywhere from $800=$2,000

Limo's should be- lets say ur gonna have 1 12 passenger and a rolls for you and FH...you can expect to spend from $1300-$1600

flowers can get expensive...when i posted a pic of what i envisioned and asked for quotes somebody told me it would cost $6000 but with a few changes they could bring it down to $4,000 and thats for something on a grand scale like this


I am looking to spend between $30,000-$35,000 I actually wanted to spend less but my FMIL is helping and my FH says I should go for whatever I want and not penny pinch so thats the only reason we're going up that high...RH is taking up $23,000 of that budget.

thank you! I am going to meet with another florist today to get a quote...we'll see if I can afford them lol...but I have a few different ideas just in case the quotes for those are out of this world...I just really want something different.

Our budget is $20k. We're spending....

Limo- $800
Hall- $12,000
Dj- $3,000 (but that includes ceremony, CH, and reception music, advanced lighting and perimeter lighting)
Photo- $2,500
Video- $1,200
HM- $3,700
DOC- $600
Flowers- $1,200
Hotel- $675.00
Misc- alot of $$$

yea maybe shes getting alot of extras for $5,000. Im paying a little over $3,000 and thats with music all day, advanced lighting and perimeter lighting. If I added all the extras I really wanted, I'd be paying over $5k too.

yeah we got percussion, sax, 2 50 inch plasmas, photo montages that has a photographer come to the ceremony to take pics and puts them up at RH with guarantee of 600 photos but we are not going to do that anymore bc only our photographer will be able to photograph. Plus special lighting.

I understand ppl prefer bands and wonder why not get a band but there are some of us who dont want a band, not that we wanted a band but had to settle for a dj. They have gotten alot better than they were years ago but i dont think they'd be able to play half my songs lol

i agree.. i always wanted a DJ.. our package is just under 3k .. but we got the lighting, the zap photos, the montage, CH music, and reception..
I was also very happy with out choice cause i felt very comfortable with them when we met. It really depends on your preferene!!
