Budget Question -REALLY need opinions. W/ poll.

Budget Question -REALLY need opinions. W/ poll.

Ok so I REALLY need some opinions on this one.
We- at the ABSOLUTE MOST and I'm talking ABSOLUTE- cannot go over $7000 for DJ & photo/video.

Does it make more sense to budget $4000 for DJ and $3000 for photo/video? Or $4000 for photo/video and $3000 for DJ?

Or any other suggestions? Do you think $3500 for each is logical?

Initially I had 3000 for DJ and 4000 for photo/video but that doesn't seem to make sense now.

DJ is more important to us, but we certainly don't want garbage pics/video. I know a lot depends on specifics, but just from what you girls have seen, what do you think makes more sense?

I'll probably remove this post for lurkers at some point.

ETA: DJ will be doing ceremony, CH, & 6 hr reception.

ita....most dj's fall under $2k for everything, which gives you $5k for photo and video, staying within the $7k budget.

yeah, i'd go more towards 4000-5000 for photo & video and 1500-2000 dj. i'm not doing anything crazy with lights or extras from the dj's but i feel like the pictures and video are going to count a lot more then the dj. IMO

yup..that sounds about right to me.

dj can be more expensive when you start adding uplighting, video montages and other extras to your package

I agree with the above posters. I would spend 2k on DJ, and not get any of the upgrades and spend more on photo video. Photos are the only thing that you will have to remind you of your wedding.

Def more for the video/photo!! Prob around 4-5 for video/photo and 2-3 DJ

I think you can budget between 1000 and 2500 for dj (depending on how much 'stuff' you want). The rest can go to photo/video

We're spending $1300 on dj, and $2500 on photo (haven't found video yet). We're using High Voltage and J'Adore Love--let me know if you want info!

we have photo/video for 4,000 and 2,500 for dj... i think first option... but u may not need to go as high as 3,000 for dj. We got a lot in our package forr 2,500

I think you should spend more on your photo/video than DJ. Yes the DJ makes the night fun but your photo's and video's are more important. And I think you can get a good DJ for the price you want.

i think yu should budget 4k for photo/video... pictures/video are the only thing you have after the wedding is over id rather spend a little more on that

I am the odd ball out, because my photo and video are 3800 combined and my DJ is also 3800.

HOWEVER, we opted out of parent albums... but we opted in on a jazz trio and a live singer for our DJ.

i splurged on photo//video (4K each) since those are the memories that are gonna last forever... my DJ is under 2K

I think splurging more on the pictures is a better bet for you. I think around 1500 for Dj and 3-4,000 for photographer/video.

I would say 3K-4,500 on photo and video (like you said, even though dj is more important to you, you still dont want bad photos/video). At the very low end for example with no parent albums (or no 2nd photographer if you would rather elimate that), photo could be around 2500 and then video at the very low end would be around 1100.

For a dj which you said is more important to you so you will most likely want a 2 seperate people, a dj and an mc. If that's all you wanted, you could get that for around 1000 or 1200 but if you want to add more things and/or go with a dj company which is a little more expensive (maybe a little bigger and better known), you could budget say 2000-2500 for dj/mc and a few extras.

So, still coming in under your 7K highest budget.
