Budget worries - I am crazy or just dreaming

Hi all! My Fi and I are trying to figure out if we are just crazy or just dreaming. I know that wedding are way over priced and many people go into debt. We are not willing to do this at all.

We have not looked around yet, we are goint to start this weekend so any help will be great.

Are we crazy for thinking that we can have a wedding for $55 - $65 a person? There could be 75 - 115 people (all depending on cost). We are looking to do it in the winter since it is cheaper and want to do it on either a friday night or sunday bruch.

does anyone know of any place that is priced at that level?

I have gotten quotes for the photographer and dj and we can find ones in our budget but the reception is driving me nuts.

HELP!!!

I think that would be doable, especially a Saturday or Sunday daytime affair in the winter.

A lot of RH don't want to tell you their prices over the phone, but most will, with a little prodding. (Since I live in NC, my mother called a lot of places from me and told them, 'I don't want to waste your time or mine...could you tell me how much it would be for a Saturday afternoon in the fall?' And it worked!).

You might have to really pound the pavement to find a place you love, but I think you'll find something great!

Also, congratulations on not going into debt! It's a really great way to start a life together.

Chateau La Mer might be in that price range for a winter wedding on a sunday afternoon. I didn't look into that option, but I think I remember a few people saying that they got a quote like that from them for winter/sunday.

Fox Hollow, Crest Hollow and Riviera can be in that price range. Just be prepared to get married in an off season on a Friday or Sunday day wedding. Good luck.

u can definetly find those prices - u just have to do ur research. Fox Hollow(winter garden pavillion is BEAUTIFUL! and they decorate SO pretty for x-mas), Leanord's, possibly Larkfield Manor, and u could actually probably find AROUND that price for an afternoon wedding at jericho terrace. DEFINETLY check out Brentwood Country Club...they do an entire package which includes a LOT(limos, flowers, dj, etc.) for under 10k. I just went to a wedding there & i was so impressed with how little they paid! it was very pretty, the food was excellent & they had all top shelf liquor. same as any other place! They saved A LOT. good luck! and no - u're not crazy

You are not crazy.

East Wind Country Gardens was $69 per headon a sunday during peak season, so I am certain you can do even better in the winter.

The meadow Club in Port Jeff was $65 head for a Saturday, and many of Lessings facilities will be in that price range.

I definitely think it is doable. FM girls on here to try to get approximate costs of places you like. Most places will work with you . . remember they want your business

An afternoon wedding is way cheaper then an evening wedding so that will help and there are places in Queens that I know are cheap my friends had weddings at for instance Antuns and Bruno's

Tall Grass was the cheapest and still nice place that we were able to find. We are getting married in may and it was $75 a head- before the ceremony fee and extra 'hidden fees' all in all it brought it to about 90 a head. But I know that their prices are way cheaper in the winter.. I think 55 a head before fees.

Yup. Definitely. We are getting married in Feb and we got low quotes from Westbury Manor, Thatched Cottage, Crest Hollow Country Club, and Fox Hollow.

Hi Ladies,
I just went to Westbury Manor two weeks ago, looking for a September date in 2009. They offered me a package deal with like 5 -7 menu choices and a viennese table for $50 a person if I would book in January!

The Christmas decorations were PHENOMENAL and it looked so pretty, definitely check them out!

You can do it! I am getting married at the Thatched Cottage for $60.95 per person at the end of March on a Saturday afternoon. Good luck!

The Thatched Cottage is the most inexpensive place around. We had our wedding booked there but unfortunately my Brother is getting deployed to Iraq so we had to change venues and postpone the wedding.
So here's the kicker- A great date is now up for grabs! July 4th 2008- it's an opening for a day wedding and it's comes with a discounted price!

P.S. The Thatched Cottage has a gorgeous Gazebo for holding your ceremony which is nestled right on the beautiful Northport Harbor. Imagine the warm July sun and swans swimming by in the harbor! As an added bonus- Northport is the cutest most picturesque town to drive through so your guests will enjoy the sights on their way to your wedding. Breathtaking gardens during the summer and the main ballroom has a full wall of windows so you can enjoy the view even from the inside. Haggle with them for $65 pp if you are interested in July 4th- it's a Friday!
