Buff Brides

Re: Buff Brides

FYI, if you want to read any great magazines out there stick with Self, and fitness.. they are VERY good and they are realistic...like for example instead of telling you to eat like a rabbit and work out 29384293872 times a day, it'll tell you for instance, if you only had fast food places around, what the best thing for you to order would be or if you only have 20 minutes a day what you should be doing.. that sort of thing,..

also, if you can't make it to a class, I strongly suggest that you get a pilates tape.. they are VERY good.. I went on epinions and some other sites to check and see what other people thought were good ones..

I bought the Windsor pilates tape and its faboooolous!! you will see yourself doing things you'd never thought you could before! haha!! your fh/dh's will like that perk too! lol

MB I must agree Pilates is wonderful, I much prefer it over Yoga. Start small ladies and do not beat up on yourself. Every little bit counts, if you fall off just pick yourself up and brush yourself off and keep going. Its when you don't get it that is when the problem begins. All the best.

Re: Buff Brides

Me too Shamma, I used to do Hatha Yoga over at NY health and Raquet and while it was great, I didn't feel the same like I do after pilates..

Pilates is a conditioning program... you use your abdominal area as the core to every all dif movements.. you also incorporate breathing into every movement to get oxygen to every muscle that you are stretching..it's a good way of tightening up your abdominals, thinning out your legs and elongating your limbs too..

I subsribed to Self and Shape. I found them to be similar so I stuck with Self. Much more user friendly for me.

I actually ordered the Firm tapes a few weeks ago and I think they are great. The package comes with 3 tapes - cardio sculpt, ab sculpt and body sculpt. They are great. You use weights as well and it also comes with something called the Fanny Lifter. it is this sort of step thing that can be used for ab work, a seat for certain arm work and also for lunges for that area right below the butt. I love it.

Fletch - the Firm tapes are awesome, aren't they? I've been working out at the gym for years but every once in a while I'll do one of my Firm tapes, like the 'Standing Legs' tape and my rear gets soooooo sore.

IMO Muscle & Fitness Hers blows away all the other fitness magazines. For beginners, Shape, Fitness, Self, etc aren't bad, but I hate how their models are super skinny. They look like they can barely lift a fork let alone a dumbbell.

Edited to say that you can find TONS of videos (including the Winsor pilates) at collage video

Re: Buff Brides

I used Buff Brides and I definitely reccommend it. It really tightens and tones. I want to thank the people on this site who were talking about Curves. I joined based on their reccommendations and it works. I have only been doing it for a month and a half and love it.
