Re: Buffets
I have been to weddings with buffets and I dont think that they are bad unless they are not set up right. Nobody wants to wait online for to long for food, plus you want everyone to enjoy themselves. I personally am doing a sit down dinner so that it doesnt take more time away from the wedding thats needed.
Either way I am sure you can figure out the best choice for you, when working with the hall.

Re: Buffets
I think it is a little more work for the guests but if it's what you want then go for it. We're having a sit down dinner but I considered buffet before we booked.

you know to be honest I never really had a problem with them- depends on you really and how you feel about guests standing on line to get food- I think its more of a personal choice!

Re: Buffets
I personally prefer a sit down dinner. Going to a hometown award show would be great for a buffet, but a wedding I think most people expect a sit down dinner. It brings formality to the occassion.

Re: Buffets
I actually really like them. You get to see what you are eating before you 'commit' to it, and if there is something you really wind up liking you can get more :)
True, the lines are sometimes a pain, but with table service you can also wind up waiting if you are the last table.

We're doing a sit-down dinner, but I think that buffets can be nice as well.
One good thing about a buffet is that the dinner isn't as drawn out as a sit-down. You don't have to wait for each individual course to be served and cleared away so that leaves more time for dancing.

Re: Buffets
not for a wedding. Don't get me wrong at most functions I love them, but they are very informal. So if you are having an informal affair then go with it. If not then I wouldn't suggest it. JMO

i agree but i also i love a buffet. it gives you a lot of choice and variety. and if you dont like something you get something else. but i do feel that it removes some formality.

Re: Buffets
I really like them too, I like being able to choose my food and see a selection and take as much as I want of whatever I want.
It just has to be well organized so that everybody gets food in a timely manner without having to wait in line for hours. Preferably there should be at least two sets of tables with everything to split the line, and maybe call people up by table numbers or something to keep it organized. Otherwise, I'm a big fan!

I like them because you have so many choices and if they are done right, they are great

Same here... I have never been to a buffet wedding, so I know some people worry about what people think, etc, by having the 'normal standards' for a wedding.
That being said, I wouldn't mind if there were lots of different stations and choices. The cocktail hour is my favorite part for this reason...
