Building a new home

DH and I want to start looking into building a home in florida. They are set up into sub divisions, now if price is listing as 175,000, does that include lot of land?

Re: Building a new home

Unlikely. The price also doesn't include any extras, like ceramic floors, inground swimming pool, or any extras you see in the model. My parents had a new house built in FL and wound up spending a LOT more than she intended to. Good luck though. I'm jealous. I'd pay a million bucks to get my hubbie to move down there, even AFTER the hurricanes!

Re: Building a new home

thanks I got a hold of the builders, you get the lot included, but if you want a premium lot, you get charged for that, building scares me, I think we are just going to buy used. My =DH will be upgrade king if we go that route

Re: Building a new home

We purchased a drop off home. Which means the orginal owners lost there funding while the building was in process at that point we jumped on and were in control of the finishing touches.

What builder are you looking into? Holiday builds a nice home, but in our area there lots are crap but I think that is just our local office.

Check if your builder includes a wetland survery on the land.

Also have you looked into an ICF house? Our house is ICF and it took the Ivan with no damage at all.

Our builder is Dolphin Custom Homes
