Went to the Verdi's bridal expo last night, took my mom so she could see the place and leave the deposit. She ended up refusing. She told me the place has no ambiance and that I should have it somewhere where 'it will feel like you're at a wedding'. I even got the guys there to give me the ballroom for a much lower minimum.. she didn't care. She said she liked the ballroom but Unfortunately her approval means a lot to me. But I may end up having to live with that.
When I asked her if she shuld help us out more if we chose another place (which would end up being a lot more) she wouldn't say how much she can help out. Verdi's w/ Tax & Gratuity w/ Vienese hour was like $70/pp for the Sunday night. I really can't afford more than that unfortunately. It's so frustrating... I refuse to spend a lot of money on ONE DAY. Yes it's my wedding day but I refuse to spend like $13,000 + on just the hall/catering. I think it's absurd. The fact I want a September wedding, I refuse to do it in the winter, make it more expensive at some places I noticed. So this morning I find myself back at the drawing board.
Anyone have any suggestions for halls that are under $80/pp? I prefer Nassau but am flexible... I don't mind Queens, or Western Suffolk.

Re: Bumed.
Have you thought about going with a package deal? Manor East and the Holiday Inn in Plainview are both affordable and include package deals.

Re: Bumed.
i agree with teri and your mom. yesterday at the expo was my first time seeing verdi's and i didn't see any ambiance either. but then again it's not my wedding, it's yours and your budget and i can totally respect that.
I also agree with alyssa that you should look at Leornards. And although Fri-Sun seem to be the popular days, don't discriminate on a thursday evening. it's becoming the new friday!
good luck, hth!
