Burtons Florist .. MAJOR Dissapointment

So, I was of the school of thought that whereas I would splurge on a band and a photographer, I would keep the cost of flowers down.. to that end I was told by several people that Burtons has the best prices.

I had gotten a quote from another 'more expensive' florist first and then went to see Burtons... To my surprise and dissapointment the price quote i was given my burtons was even MORE (by a LOT) than the 'more expensive florist' for less stuff!! (the other florist was throwing in petals, votives and i get to keep the vases for the centerpieceetc)

For 17 tall centerpieces
Bride BO-K
2 MOH Bo-K
2 altar pieces
Boutenieres and Corsages
cake decoration
10 pew bows

Burtons quoted me $2,850 plus tax!

IN order to get a slighly upgraded centerpiece-- (the same as the one from the other florist) it would cost an additional 50 bucks PER centerpiece..!

What happened to a great price!!!! ???

Iroically a friend of mine who is getting married 2 weeks before me and needs the same items PLUS an ADDITIONAL 10 BM boquets got quoted LESS than I did....

Burtons would not itemize their 'package' price so I dont know how on earth they came up with this number

Someone please explain this to me!

I had a very similar experience with Burtons. They were very highly reccomended by my RH. I called they, and let them know that I needed to do all the planning over the phone. Well, they wouldn't even talk to me or my mom with out a deposit. No quote, nothing.

Anyways now I have Jen by Verbeana and she is single-handedly saving my wedding. She is so nice and she goes over-and-beyond. She is also super budget friendly!

WOW That is really pathetic. What difference does it make?.I gave them a deposit, but this make me want to look else where. Sorry that happen to you.

hmmm that is very strange... I am getting married at a temple-- and we are using them. They never once brought this up and the guy we dealt with was super nice. He also showed us a ton of pics of flowers they did at our temple and I believe at other temples. They did mention to me that at a certain time (I forgot I think maybe Jan 2009), they were going to have to raise their prices. Maybe that would explain the price discrepancy...

I think time of year does have something to do with it. I loved them. Was totally psyched at Bobbi's reaction to my colors. I think the price was right too. Could I have gone someplace else? Yes but for a V'day weekend wedding I didn't want to use a retail florist. I never thought of that until a very reliable referral informed me that he couldn't give a wedding, even a close friend of his, the proper attention it needed. He then referred me to Burtons.

This really happened. First the woman asked for the date. Then after I told her my location, she said they were booked. I tried asking her if there were any other florists she could recommend...but she HUNG UP ON ME. Honestly, this woman was so rude. I am so glad this happened so that I can give my money to a more deserving company. It was really hurtful.

I just wanted to say that to those girls who are considering cancelling burton's as their vendor or not meeting with them at all... don't! Just because it wasn't right for some girls doesn't mean it won't be right for you. Most of the vendors on here have mixed reviews, it's better to form your own opinion since we all have different standards and ideas.

This is what Mike said to me when I asked him about your claim: 'We are not taking any work that day because its my Nephews wedding in NJ'

For those of you who already booked w/ Burton's or have an appt, DON'T CANCEL! Every1 has their own experience w/ each vendor.

I used Burton's. They were very reasonable, easy to work with and the flowers came out fabulous! I kept adding people to the bridal party (bc DH is a pain in the neck and kept making me add people ) but they kept the price the same. I even added more expensive flowers and it was never a problem.

There are lots of people on here who use vendors who I had a bad experience with....I'm not going to tell people not to meet with those vendors just bc I had a bad experience. Every1 has their own experience w/ a vendor....it's better to check out a bunch of different vendors and go with the one that u feel most comfortable with.

i agree.... there are MANY bad reviews of my photographer on this site.... however - every bride is different.... there isnt going to be a vendor with 100% positive reviews!!

go with what works for you!! i did and loved my photographer despit the bad reviews on here!!

I'm using Burtons and love them! They gave me an amazing price for what I need. I went there last September, on the same weekend I'm getting married this year, to see in season flowers etc. It was a Saturday and they were ridiculously busy getting flowers ready for weddings but they still took the time to bring me in the back to check out arrangements and boks.

Absolutely!! I completely agree. I've read a few not so nice things about my RH...but thats just how the boards go. I just don't like that the poster dropped a bomb like that without any explanation and then all the girls that saw this post were asking if they should cancel ... know what I mean?

Okay, I hope you don't take this the wrong way...but is it really a MAJOR Disappointment? First of all, that price is not soooo astronomical that I would be like OMG!!! Second of all, you found a florist that worked for you anyway, so why are you so disappointed in Burton's? People shop around to find the right vendor for them. Sometimes one vendor that works for some isn't right for someone else. But I hardly think this is THAT big of a deal.

My BFF used Burtons for her wedding and the flowers were beautiful. They lasted a whole week after her wedding too. I decided to use them, and all I had to give them was $50 to hold the date.
