So, I was of the school of thought that whereas I would splurge on a band and a photographer, I would keep the cost of flowers down.. to that end I was told by several people that Burtons has the best prices.
I had gotten a quote from another 'more expensive' florist first and then went to see Burtons... To my surprise and dissapointment the price quote i was given my burtons was even MORE (by a LOT) than the 'more expensive florist' for less stuff!! (the other florist was throwing in petals, votives and i get to keep the vases for the centerpieceetc)
For 17 tall centerpieces Bride BO-K 2 MOH Bo-K 2 altar pieces Boutenieres and Corsages cake decoration 10 pew bows
Burtons quoted me $2,850 plus tax!
IN order to get a slighly upgraded centerpiece-- (the same as the one from the other florist) it would cost an additional 50 bucks PER centerpiece..!
What happened to a great price!!!! ???
Iroically a friend of mine who is getting married 2 weeks before me and needs the same items PLUS an ADDITIONAL 10 BM boquets got quoted LESS than I did....
Burtons would not itemize their 'package' price so I dont know how on earth they came up with this number
Someone please explain this to me!

I actually just met with burton's today and i was disappointed as well. my appt was 4:00, i got there a few min early and was on my way home by 4:10. it seemed as if the women who met with me couldn't be bothered to deal with me. she had said something and then i was like, yea, i remember that from my brother's wedding (burton's did the flowers for their wedding in sept 07). i'm not goin to book with them because i got a quote of $400 less for another place, where the woman was so helpful and spent an hour with me going over bo-ks, centerpieces, etc.
when we went to burton's we also met with a woman who rushed us out AND we had an appointment! i was given a quote through email but i still wanted to go over some things with them - like the size of the bok's and the size of the centerpieces - the woman looked at me like i had 10 heads b/c i wanted to know what kind of vase the CP's would be in and how many flowers were going to be in the bok - i had a few questions and it was like they couldn't be bothered.....i was also turned off by the inside of the place and their photo albums that showcased their work were all old with like 1990 flowers i did not feel comfortable at all in there.....some people don't mind that but i wanted to feel like a 'bride' and be treated like a 'bride' especially when im going to be dropping some serious money kwim?

cold fmed me and i think the price difference may be due to me needing 2 jr bm bok's in my bok quote ... im sure they are smaller and charge less money for those

Yeah, that's correct...but for the difference in price, I better be getting some huge-a$$ bouquets for my girls

that is weird....I paid about $2300 and had 14 adults in the bp and 6 kids....maybe the time of year had something to do with it?

Re: Burtons Florist .. MAJOR Dissapointment
Oy and Al--
I just wanted to add that I have never personally heard anyone complain about their flowers who used them so it should def not stop you from going to see them and or continuing to book with them. It just seems that they lack some consistency in their pricing-- thaty is my only complaint.
If you have a K for a price that worked for you i would NOT change them. They did my friend's flowers a year and a half ago and they were perfectly nice.
I just wanted to vent bc i was surprised at the fact that they seemed to highball me-- comparatively to what friends I know who used them got as their estimates.
It is worth a shot with them bc i know some people who did in fact get great deals and weree happy with their service. My post was just venting/presenting the other side.. dont assume they will give you the best price as I had assumed based on what people said to me and what i had read on the boards-- you have to go see and compare for youself.
Good luck!

I'm sorry you had a bad experience with Burtons. i called them to make an appt to come in and they refused to even make an appt with me once they heard I was getting married at a temple. I would never work with that company, even if they paid me!

I booked with them last year. I got similar to what you needed except a few additional bok's and nothing for the Church. my total was $2800 plus tax. They were really nice to me and I actually called to set up an appointment to go in within the next month and they were great. I am sorry you had a bad experience! I def wouldn't cancel with them if you already booked them. there was a reason you booked there in the first place! JMO

what??? that doesnt sounds right- why would they refuse business because you're getting married in a temple? was it something else? maybe they just didnt have the time you wanted...... tht just seems unheard of.

I know exactly what you mean. When I started to ask the woman questions, she didn't want to answer them. She want on her whole spiel about how they use flowers in season, etc. I asked her what flowers were in season for March and she told me to google it.

There has to be a reason.. I'm sure they wouldnt just turn someone away like that.
Did you ask them why?
ETA: Maybe they cant go to that Temple?

ive heard the same exact story from another bride.... it seems to me like this 'woman' whoever is may be... is the wrong person to work with at burtons... and i actually warned FH beforehand that theres a chance we might get her, but thankfully we didnt.... Mike seems to be the person to deal with there
