So, I was of the school of thought that whereas I would splurge on a band and a photographer, I would keep the cost of flowers down.. to that end I was told by several people that Burtons has the best prices.
I had gotten a quote from another 'more expensive' florist first and then went to see Burtons... To my surprise and dissapointment the price quote i was given my burtons was even MORE (by a LOT) than the 'more expensive florist' for less stuff!! (the other florist was throwing in petals, votives and i get to keep the vases for the centerpieceetc)
For 17 tall centerpieces Bride BO-K 2 MOH Bo-K 2 altar pieces Boutenieres and Corsages cake decoration 10 pew bows
Burtons quoted me $2,850 plus tax!
IN order to get a slighly upgraded centerpiece-- (the same as the one from the other florist) it would cost an additional 50 bucks PER centerpiece..!
What happened to a great price!!!! ???
Iroically a friend of mine who is getting married 2 weeks before me and needs the same items PLUS an ADDITIONAL 10 BM boquets got quoted LESS than I did....
Burtons would not itemize their 'package' price so I dont know how on earth they came up with this number
Someone please explain this to me!

That sounds about right for pricing..and you are right .. since you are getting only bo-ks etc its not worth your time or energy to run around for a better price-- bc I am sure the pricing will all be around the same if not more for what you are getting.. Glad you agree with me though that the prices sort of appeared out of 'thin air'..crazy!

I went to 4 florists...the cheapest were Flower Barn and Burton's. Burton's was cheaper by a negligable amount (like $150).
I went with Burton's becuase I personally know 2 ppl who used them and were happy. I personlly don't know anyone who used FB, though they get great reviews on here, and they were more willing to sit and chat. I was a little rushed at Burton's.

Re: Burtons Florist .. MAJOR Dissapointment
on some thread many months back someone else got very high prices from Burton's and I think a bit of a hard time. I thik she came up with a theory that if there was something about your wedding that was inconvemient for them or made it more expensive for them that they didn't want the job, they gave the bride a high price.
so you get good prices it it's convenient for them. Makes sense why their prices are not consistent.

Re: Burtons Florist .. MAJOR Dissapointment
That is really funny bc I actually meant to add that I was convinced the guy gave us a high price because the salesman and my mom seemed to have a conflict of personalities and I figured he just didnt want to deal with me!
Maybe that wasnt such a crazy idea.
I also thought maybe they had a certain package price that they wanted to be at per event they booked and it didnt matter if you had fewer bo-k's for example than someone else.
Well I agree that sometime they give people different prices than others but if your wedding is the same time of the year and day of the week etc... then you SHOULD get the same price, as a professional florist. If you can then negotiate better than someone else then I am all about that-- but I have to tell you-- the guy at Burtons did not at ALL budge and flat out said that prices were not negotiable
I think I am more convinced that he just didnt want to deal with us..

Re: Burtons Florist .. MAJOR Dissapointment
I actually just met with burton's today and i was disappointed as well. my appt was 4:00, i got there a few min early and was on my way home by 4:10. it seemed as if the women who met with me couldn't be bothered to deal with me. she had said something and then i was like, yea, i remember that from my brother's wedding (burton's did the flowers for their wedding in sept 07). i'm not goin to book with them because i got a quote of $400 less for another place, where the woman was so helpful and spent an hour with me going over bo-ks, centerpieces, etc.

I just wanted to add that we met with Burton's also, were disappointed and did not go with them...we went with Lovin Oven Florist instead bec the price that Burton's gave us was only cheaper by about $150 and we lovvvvvvvvvved Keyth's designs at LO. He doesn't even replicate designs that were used before...he creates his own designs based on your vision..he is a floral artist and we rec'd so many compliments. Def. check them out.

That's pretty funny, because I'm actually getting less flowers than Mazz for a higher price, but I think I'm getting the special pricing on account of my RH not being at the top of their preferred job list Which they made no qualms about telling me that they do not like working with them. UGH. Oh well...overall still way cheaper than any other place I went to, and as long as they don't come dead, I don't care about flowers.
