Bustle during first dance
Hey there...just wondering about this - is it customary to bustle your gown during your first dance (and during your entrance to the reception) ? I would think yes, so that you can move around more easily. My mom thinks that it's customary to leave it down and to bustle after the first dance so that people who were not at your ceremony can see the entire dress. Any thoughts on this?

I did the same thing. I bustled after our first dance and had my train draped over my arm. It didn't get in my way at all. I just thought it was tradition so that people who couldn't make it to the ceremony could see my whole dress before I was all bustled up.

Re: Bustle during first dance
I bustled after the first dance too. It also was tradional in my opinion nad it made my pictures from the first dance look nice. I guess it is just a matter of what you are comfortable with.

I had to bustle before the first dance, we got our dance chorographed and I need to be able to move freely.

Re: Bustle during first dance
i normally see it buslted up.. did that to mine, too. while dancing around in your dress, the groom or dad or.. may accidentally step on your dress and god forbid what may happen next. it's much easier for you and your dancing partner to maneuver about.

Re: Bustle during first dance
It can vary with your dress. If you have a very short or barely there train than you might want to leave it. The longer the train and the more elaborate your dance moves I would suggest bustling it. You don't want to trip over it. Most of my friends bustled before they entered the cocktail hour if they attended.

Re: Bustle during first dance
I'm going to let it drag. I'm not even planning to wrap it over my arm. This is the ONE time in my life I will get to wear a long train and I want to let it hang as long as I can.I have been told that the underneath will get dirty. To that, my response is, 'Oh, right, and it might not look good the next time I wear it.'

Re: Bustle during first dance
Tradition wise you should bustle it after your first dance.I think it depends on your dress. I had a chapel length train-not that long i held it during our first dance and bustled it after. I loved coming in though with my train behind me..

Re: Bustle during first dance
Bustled before...happy I did it. My dress was already dirty from all the picture taking before, leaving it down would make the dirt more noticeable as it was draped over my arm.Welcome New Vendors
