Please let me know which one you like better? We are not using Fondant because I hear it doesn't taste that great, and also, the bakery wants to charge more for fondant, so we're out on that.

I am buttercream all the way!!
Even when I make cakes or cupcaked at home I always use Betty Crockers Whipped Buttercream frosting and everyone loves them!

Yea, I preferred the Buttercream at our tasting, but FH preferred the Whipped Cream. We went with Buttercream, but they said we could change it, so I figured I'd find out what others prefer. Thanks for your input!!!

i have a sweet tooth, so i can really go for either. my mom recently told me she likes whipped cream more. lol.
i would ask what stays out longer, better. i have a feeling that buttercream might last longer for pretty pictures...but that is for a baker to comment on

butter cream lasts longer and holds shape better
if you want some pretty details other than larger scallops (not thats bad) i would reccomend the BC
its just easier to work with and make shapes etc

i love love love fondant.. and marzipan mmmmmm...
as per icings, i perfer buttercream, my mother on the otherhand HATES buttercream! she refused to eat my e-party cake because we used buttercream and for my 25th birthday i wanted a replica of my eparty cake, she fought me on the buttercream, ended up getting whipped cream, it didn't taste as good
I love whipped cream, just not with cake.
I'd sample both and decide on which one YOU and your FH like better.

i think it depends on the cake. i like cannoli cake and whipped cream def tastes better w/ it than buttercream. although both are really good!

I weird but i like the taste of fondant a lot!! I steal it off of everyone's cake at weddings lol. But, that being said, my all time favorite is whipped cream! I think butter cream is too sweet for me and almost tastes fake...jmo

I like the way whipped tastes better, but for the wedding i would prolly go with the buttercream as i worked in a bakery and Whipped cream A. doesn't hold it's shape as long and B. i find that colors (roses, food coloring) depending what you are having on your cake sometimes bleeds into the whipped cream.
