Butterfly release

Butterfly release

Has anyone done or is doing a butterfly release?
I looked into it and its not that cheap, and also I am afraid of the butterflies being dead. I also feel bad that they would be trapped in that little envelope thing. On the other hand, I love butterflies and think it would be beautiful if it worked out.
Any opinions?

I have been contemplating the same thing, and have had many of the same feelings/thoughts as you. There is another option that you have a 'tent' like 'birdcage' and the butterlies are loose in there and you and FH release them. I am not sure on the cost or specifics, I had looked into it a while ago.

Re: Butterfly release

AnniesSS did this at her wedding. I believe she went into detail in her review and do a search on the 05 boards too...

ETA: Better yet...here's a link to her post on the butterfly release.

Re: Butterfly release

I went to a wedding a month ago and they had the butterfly realease. i'm not sure where she got the butterflies, but they were all in a white box. When the Bride and Groom exit the church they opened the box themselves. The butterflies were very disoriented and most of them fell on the ground. She had to shake the box some flew out. One look really pretty it stayed on her dress the whole time but most stayed in the box. I was planning to do this but when I saw her do it, I changed my mind. I hope this helps..

Re: Butterfly release

I went to a wedding where they had the butterfly release. I didn't think it was wonderful only because once they flew into the air they then began to land on the guests, one landed on my DH and the lady behind me freaked out because she didn't like them.

It looks pretty when they are released but you have to hope they all fly upward and not downward on your guests.
