which one?? We bought our Rottie from a 'breeder'....it was a person DH went to school with and bred his dogs and was selling the pups.....and DH wants another purebreed...but I'm a mutt kind of girl...

I say adopt. All those little puppies that need homes are so much more worth it sometimes. You're saving an animal AND getting a puppy all in one shot. JMO.

I want our next dog to be shelter, but FH wants Mastiff as next dog, and you don't find any of those really in shelters, especially not puppies. What kind of breed does your guy want?

I want a shar-pei, he wants a weimeraner (sp??), and we both agree that we'd love to have another Rottweiler....she's so good to us!

How many dogs you plan on having? When we get house, we want to have like 3 dogs. So we said next he can get mastiff, and then awhile later, I can get one from shelter as compromise.

We have three dogs - Hershey came from North Shore (she was adopted as a puppy by a co-worker but he couldn't keep her), Bailey was purchased from Yuppy Puppy and Max came from Little Shelter.
They are all great but I can tell you what satisfaction we get when we think about adopting Max (he was 9 when we got him and we wonder how many other people would have ... and if we hadn't if he'd still be there).
I say adopt but if you want a certain breed I am glad to hear you go to a breeder NOT a pet store.

I couldn't agree more. Adopting is such a beautiful thing - you are saving a life...and a lot of times you CAN find a purebred puppy or dog, in a shelter.

I think adopting is great but be careful of misrepresentation. When my brother and SIL picked out a puppy, they were told he was a terrier mix and he would be a fairly small dog. He is a PIT BULL terrier mix and 65 pounds right now,

Well, the dog my parents have who I had originally gotten was a mutt, half shepherd/half pitbull. My lab's a purebred, but honestly my parents' dog never had any health problems except when it was brought on herself by chewing a cassette tape or something. My Lab has had stomach rashes, ear infections, etc. It's amazing how mutts can be easier.

adopt is the best way...i adopted a siberian husky 10 years ago and i think thats the best way here is a pic of him
Please adopt!! My guy is from North Shore (by the way, next time I adopt I will adopt from a different shelter - North Shore is kind of a 'glam' shelter, IMO). He was a mess when we first got him, shaking, nervous, and although he has his problems, he is such a love! I can't get enough of him! The ppor adoption dogs need homes and need your love!
