Is anyone planning on buying a home before the wedding and worried about having enough $$$ for all the wedding stuff???
We may be getting a house & my whole financial savings plan for the wedding won't really work!!
Anyone else in this situation??

We thought about it but it's not going to happen. We need to focus on the wedding then start saving for the house. It will take us awhile since I'm graduating from school next month.

We just started house hunting-most likely we will be in before the wedding, it just happened to be the right time for us!

We just bought a house last summer. So long as nothing major goes wrong with the house, we should be able to pay all the bills and save a good amount of money monthly.

we are saving to buy a house right now - hopefully will buy by this time next year and have time to fix it up before the wedding!

We were simply unable to do both at the same time. We postponed getting engaged when the right house fell into our laps 2 years ago. So now that we've adjusted to the expenses of owning a home, mortgage, etc, we are better able to save for the wedding. It is never easy, though, and I don't think there will ever be a time when I'll say, 'OK, we now have more than enough money.' I guess that's just living on LI. Good Luck to you, I know it's stressful.

We were in the process of buying a handyman special home and FH proposed a week before our closing. It is definetly a struggle planning and paying for both....and VERY stressful! We signed our contract and put down a deposit on our hall on the same day...yikes.

Thanks everyone... I guess we will just close our eyes and do it! haha I'm sure in the end everything will work out.. it is just so scary... and you are right... there will never be a time where it will be easy.

noo unfortunately we cant get a house right away- we do want to purchase a condo or a coop though.... both FH and I will be going to grad school as well so financially we arent ready for a house just yet....

we thought about getting a house at this time too.....but unfourtunately if we did there would be not enough money to save for a wedding...i decided that right now a wedding was more impt to me and that a house will always be there to buy

Yes, FH and I are bidding on a condo as we speak!! I am very nervous about having enough savings for the wedding. It's going to be tight for the next year. I am hoping to be moving in within the next 2 months or so!

YUP!!! We are in the same boat. We are saving every penny for both the house and the wedding. This is why we are trying to find a house this year and settle in while dealing with the wedding next year. We already have a budget for the house as well as the wedding. It's really hard for me especially I haven't shopped in a long time for my wodrobe!! BUT, I know in the end it's going to be great!!! I can't wait. The market is so slow still...I'm still waiting for people to start selling!!!

We just bought a house, its hard to pay for both, the houses here are just so much. We got an excellent rate on our loan. Just search around for a great broker, ors had the cheapest rate around and he was so helpful, fm e forhis number, he was the best. I have recommended him to s few girls on here...good luck house hunting..... Michelle

We just started looking for a house. Thankfully my FH is extremely good with money that we are going to be able to do both.. but I know it is still going to stress me out because it's a lot to shell out at once.

FH and I are closing on a house the end of this month or early June. It will be tough but we figured we'll just do things backwards. I'm selling my coop so luckily I'm making a profit from that so that will help us a little. We're just hopefull that everything will work out.

We're doing both as well, we signed all the contracts our closing date is supposed to be the end of May. Thankfully FH is taking care of that aspect.

We can't afford both. We are paying for the weddings ourselves. So FH suggested renting an apartment for a little while until we can save enough for the down payment. If it wasn't for the down payment, we'd be able to afford it... I think.

We will be buying a house before, but FH and I both own Co-op's and he will be using his proceeds from his co-op to cover down payment and closing. Hopefully we will have enough, to not touch anything monies reserved for the wedding.

Yes, we are planning on buying a home by the end of this year/or beginning of next year. It is nerve racking on saving for all of this, but i think it will work out in the end. My FH is saving on the down payment on the house, and I working on paying for the wedding with a little help from him. :0)
