Cablevision and my new house

I HATE the cable company and I think that it's evil that the only place I can get cable is via cablevision.
I've been withough cable and internet for two weeks!!

After a week of these people not returning my calls, and then FINALLY sending a sales guy out (after I ranted and screamed to customer service in the main office) they finally send a Tech guy out on Wednesday to install...only to tell me they can't install. Turns out it'll take another week because they *THOUGHT* there was a direct feed into our house, but turns out no. Shouldn't they know this BEFORE telling me they can install cable?

So now I've buckled and I'm using AOL dial up while I wait for my IO digital and Optimum online.

But the house is coming along fine (I'll post some pics next). At least I have lots to keep me busy, although I feel cut off without all my wedding boards ;)

The cable companies are a conspiracy. Really they are.

Believe me, after this past week, I was totally set to go elsewhere but DH has done all sorts of research and he's hell bent on getting IO digital.

I'm not sure what the pros and cons are of satellite/dish vs. digital, but according to him everyone raves about IO.
Too bad there's only one place you can get it.
I'll be sitting around next week waiting for someone to show up 'between 12 and 5'

Cablevision is a royal pain in the arse, but IO will be worth it in the end. They pretty much got all the kinks out of the system now.

It's the Smithtown School district which is one of the top rated school districts on Long Island. That's actually one of the reasons we chose to build here over Lake Grove.

When we used to drive here from Manhattan it would take just about an hour on a good day. DH's commute is about an hour and 45 minutes door to door. He leaves at 5:05 to get the 5:30 Express from Ronkonkoma and he gets into work at just about 7. He walks from Penn to Grand Central.
Then he takes a 4:30 home and he gets in just before 6:30

Thanks for the nice words everyone. Maybe I'll have to pull together a BBQ/GTG after the landscaping is in. I'm still schlepping around in mud. Especially today.

my parents have Direct TV and are quite happy...but I don't know about internet from them...


actually I found that Cablevision was better than Time Warner...but the best was RCN...if you can get it...b/c they offer some kind of competition
