cake height?

cake height?

Does anyone know how tall each tier of a wedding cake (a stacked cake without the dowels) is or how high a 4-tier cake usually stands?

I ask b/c i met with a baker this weekend and I thought he said each tier is 3' but that sounds small to me. For a 4 tier cake, the cake would only be a foot high? I feel like they're usually taller, right?

3' does sound really low to me, I agree ....

Here is a pic of a 4 tier cake from NRC without risers, I think the height in the pic is about average

3 inches??? That sounds small. I would suggest going to a bakery or to a supermarket bakery and measure a cake. Typical strawberry shortcake is the approximate height used for wedding cakes. It has to be at least 5 inches minimum.
