cake help

so fh and i really don't like the taste of fondant so we're thinking, 'why would we pay extra for something we hate?'

so now we need to find pics of cakes that can be made without fondant! where did you find your cake inspiration pics?

I'm still searching for a cake, but I figured I'd let you know that there are other options besides fondant, there's marzipan or just plain ol' frosting (whipped cream, buttercream, etc) but most bakeries can do a similar look to something made of fondant, using frosting.

did you have a look in mind originally?

if u like a cake that has fondant on it, u can just ask em to make it with butter cream or whatever u want. i dont think it should be a problem to switch it...
try theknot.com or brides.com for cakes.

Re: cake help

Sorry I'm not posting pics bc I want the cake to be a surprise to my guests who are also on here, but I will tell you. The pic I showed my bakery of the cake I wanted was almost all fondant. I told them I don't like fondant and would like it in buttercream and they are able to do the same design!

So if you find a fondant cake you like bring the bakery a pic and see if they can do it in another frosting
