CAKE Question???? Who Puts the ......

Original post by gina674

Hi!!!!!

Who puts the flowers on the cake if you want flowers??? Your Florist?? Or the Baker??? When I went to the Bakery last weekend, he said he would do it... But I want the flowers to match my other flowers... I didn't even know the bakeries did this. I thought it was the florist's job...

Did anyone else come across this???

so if I'm getting a simple cake made, where the main attraction is the flowers, it's not even the baker that does that? It's someone else? interesting...

This is the one I want (but a heart shaped cake)... I hope whoever it is puts the flowers on right!

Typically, the Crescent handles the decoration of the cake.

MY FLORIST GAVE THE FLOWERS FOR THE CAKE TO THE HALL AND THE HALL PUT THEM ON

This is what my florist told me they were going to do as well, so I am assuming that the maitre d', or the BM, or the chef are going to put it on the cake.

OK, now I feel bad b/c my florist originally asked me and I said no b/c I didn't think I wanted flowers. Then when i finalised my cake this weekend, the baker was really agressive in adding flowers and he said florists, while often doing it, don't always now 'how to place them' - I think he was just trying to get me to pay him instead of the florist. And I like my florist, now I feel bad:(.

ANY florist will know how to add flowers to a cake. They work with flowers EVERY day!

I know - thats why I feel bad - the baker just kept pushing and talking and was so annoying about it that I conceded. Its already paid for too, so no use thinking about it I guess :).

I am sure he will do a fine job. It's really seriously not that hard. I was working on decorating wedding cakes while I was still in high school. It's tons of fun actually.
