Cake tasting today!!

I'm heading to Hoboken this afternoon to have a cake tasting at Carlo's--they even have a picture of the Tiffany box cake I want on their website I'm so excited. I'll let you all know how it goes. This is who made babybride's cake, which was BEAUTIFUL!!!

I'm telling myself that since this is a wedding necessity, it's 'technically' not considered cheating on South Beach!

The cake tasting went really well. I actually knew what cake I wanted and they were the ones who made it for the magazine shoot I'd seen it in. The picture is below and is exactly what we'd get.

Here's my question though--how good are the cakes supposed to taste and how much variety 'should' there be in the flavors available. It's just hard to tell how good a cake should taste for $900 you know what I mean

i think the only way to figure out if it is worth the money is to compare it to other cakes by other bakers - So have fun tasting
