How do we feel about this? I found a Lladro once that I love, and was going to add to my registry, but it is so bleepin expensive. Are brides still using them? Is it still tradition?

Re: Cake Topper
I personally am not using a cake topper, but many brides do. If you want it, I say add it to the registry!!

Re: Cake Topper
We are actually buying a really expensive one, but it is custom made from pictures of us. It should look very similar to us--hairstyles, attire, flowers, everything. I figure it will be a keepsake that we will have always. So if you love one, I'd say get it.

Re: Cake Topper
I actually received a lladro my grandparents got as a gift many many years ago... they had been holding on to it and knew I loved it so much. I don't think they even make this one anymore, or rather they do but an updated couple on it. I think it might be too heavy for the top of our cake, but I am going to display it on our cake table I absolutely love it, and I think it would mean alot to my grandmother.

Re: Cake Topper
Most brides seem to still use them, tho some are using unique figures. My FI wants to use a Arwen & Aragorn (LOTR) figurine. I'd say if you really love it then put it on the registry, you can keep it after the wedding and display it so you'll have it for a long time.

Re: Cake Topper
We actually got a BEAUTIFUL lladro at our e-party from FH's sis and bro. I think we'll definitely pick another one up on our cruise this year because the cost is cut dramatically. It's a nice collection to start if that's your thing. As a cake topper I think it would be gorgeous! Maybe don't register for it...I'm sure your mom will spread the word

Re: Cake Topper
We've decided not to go with a cake topper, but have our florist decorate the cake and table with fresh flowers.

Re: Cake Topper
I will be using a cake topper but it wont be a lladro as I would be afraid that it would break. I would say add it to the list as you may have a group of friends who may all chip in a buy it for you.

There is a Lladro piece I want and said F'it and put it ont he registry. I had thought of having it next to the cake in lieu of a topper, but someone on here suggested against it b/c GOd fobid it got bumped and fell or got chipped!! I'd be mortified! SO, IF I do get it, I won't take it to the hall. Will save it for the curio cabinet (which I don't have yet) in the house (that I don't have yet either!)!

If you find one that you really like then you should put it on your registry. Maybe someone will but it, you never know.

Re: Cake Topper
Yes I will probably use a cake topper. I'm not looking for an expensive one. Just a traditional one with the bride and groom. If you really like the Lladro topper put it on your registry.
Edited for spelling

Re: Cake Topper
I also fell in love with Lladro's 'Happiest Day.' Then I found out the price and decided that I would never own it. Upon looking at it, I realized that it's too big for the cake. However, I would drool over it every time we went to Fortunoff. Well, when we went to register a few weeks ago, FI bought and and completely suprised me!! I was shocked! We decided that we are going to have flowers on the top of the cake and put the Lladro on our table. We will put a Nao figurine 'Love Always' (made by Lladro) that my coworker got me next to the cake.
The 1st is 'The Happiest Day' The 2nd is 'Love Always'
I can't believe it, but I was just at BJ's Wholesale Club and they had Lladro figurines (both regular ones, and Nao's ) for sale... Even if slightly discounted off their usual pricey price, I thought I would share the news. They have a lot of nice ones

I am using a monogram cake topper.
If you really love it, put it on your registry, maybe a couple people will chip in together and buy it for you.
