Cake toppers...too heavy??

I have heard that some cake toppers are too heavy to put on top of cakes? Is that true?

I really like the Lenox Swept Away but it is kind of heavy and I dont want to put it on my registry if I cant put it on top of my cake.

Most people don't put toppers like that on top of the cake. It usually goes next to the cake on the cake table.

Yea i thinking something like that is too heavy.. i would deff. put it to the side of the cake though... very pretty

Usually you put it on the cake table, this was mine.

Yeah that happened to my mom when she married my step-dad. She had a Cinderella one that was made specifically to be a cake-topper and it was way way too heavy. So we just put it on the table.

It's definitely too heavy to put on top of the cake. My friend has a similar one and by the cake cutting they were up to their knees. Talk to your baker, most can put a pedestal into the cake under the icing to hold up the statue.

my mom already bought me the Cinderella Cake Topper. However, it is very heavy so we will probably just put it next to the cake.

My friend had a pedestal put inside the cake to support their cake topper. It worked out great! I plan to do the same.

Wow Just got this from my mothyer in law this weekend at the shower. Good thing I saw this post. I imagine she would have been p.o. if I didn't bring it for the cake table Thanks

I received that cake topper as an engagement gift. I definately am not going to put it on the cake. It's way too heavy. We'll probably put it on the cake table next to the cake.

My baker is putting supports through the cake, so the cake can support my heavy topper

my cake topper was on top, then fell and hit every tier on the way down . So they stuck a flower on top and put the topper to the side. Oh and turned the cake so you couldn't see the mess the topper made. Luckily I am a mellow person so I didn't care.

We did a cupcake tier so they put the cake topper next to it. It looked beautiful!

Thanks girls, I am going to see if they can do the pedastal thing because I really want my cake topper on top of the cake. I have so much time, so maybe I will find a lighter one that I like.

i used this.
it was too heavy for the top of the cake. because of this, they took it down and put it next to the cake.

it was beautiful!

This is the cake topper I want (first one)
Second is one FH likes (just kidding around)

The first looks really light so I am hoping that they can have it on the cake.

That cake top is heavy I have the same one. We're putting it along side the cake
