We went tonight to our cake appointment with cakes by Jay and LOOOVED him. We were with him for over an hour talking about what we want and just talking about stuff in general. He is such a nice person, funny and great to get along with. I brought in a bunch of pics of what i like and me, fh and jay came up wih a design for each tier.
Anybody looking for a cake vendor, i definitely recommend jay, his work is GORGEOUS and he is so great. If you want to see his work he will be on the food network march 2nd. I know he won one of the cake competitions they do and he told us he just found out when its airing.
We decided on a mad hatter type cake...bc we have alot of guests its going to be 6 tiers. We also did a cake tasting which was great, the cakes were so delicious. We decided on 2 flavors: sour dough cake(which at first when i heard didnt think i would like it) w/raspberry and chocolate truffles...2nd is yellow pound cake with baileys cream filling.
I love the design we came up with and the ideas he came up with.
The first person to recommend him to me is TG's lady, so thank you

i was surprised how much i loved the sourdough cake with raspberry and chocolate truffles but i think that was mine and fh's favorite...his one request was the baileys cream and when he said he does it we were both happy...He made the girl make the baileys cream filling right after we told him.

I can't wait for our tasting and consult for the cake. Our vendor has the 'normal' flavors plus an Italian rum cake, pound cake, and a cannoli cake and filling. ALL DIETS OFF THAT DAY

well its by appointment only...its not a bakery well not like a regular one...he has a small type showroom and outside area is a desk with chairs to talk to him and cakes displayed...Then he has the kitchen inside where he makes the cakes.
