We went tonight to our cake appointment with cakes by Jay and LOOOVED him. We were with him for over an hour talking about what we want and just talking about stuff in general. He is such a nice person, funny and great to get along with. I brought in a bunch of pics of what i like and me, fh and jay came up wih a design for each tier.
Anybody looking for a cake vendor, i definitely recommend jay, his work is GORGEOUS and he is so great. If you want to see his work he will be on the food network march 2nd. I know he won one of the cake competitions they do and he told us he just found out when its airing.
We decided on a mad hatter type cake...bc we have alot of guests its going to be 6 tiers. We also did a cake tasting which was great, the cakes were so delicious. We decided on 2 flavors: sour dough cake(which at first when i heard didnt think i would like it) w/raspberry and chocolate truffles...2nd is yellow pound cake with baileys cream filling.
I love the design we came up with and the ideas he came up with.

its great bc he boxed up the samples we tasted that we didnt finish
whatever you don't finish, feel free to box up again and send my way.
It's pretty interesting actually to see things like this because when I got married I didn't know... or I didnt think to research it... so I just went with the cake the hall offered. It would have been nice to do something different like this. It's another nice way to show your personalities/style.

He Showcased his cakes and brought mini samples of the Sour Cream Pound Cake with the Rasberry chocolate truffle filling at there last bridal show. Your right the sound of the cakes makes you hesitate tasting it but once you did ou found yourself walking past his booth over and over again just to take more samples. Good luck and I can't wait to see what you came up with,

its funny bc the cake was the first thing fh and i looked into when we got engaged...well designs and what we like. We would watch the cake competitions and all that haha. Before i even started looking at RH's, for dresses and so on, i was looking for cakes

I'm going to have to ask him to try the bailey's filling!!! Did you try his carrot cake sample? He had it as one of ours beccause we are having a fall wedding. Let me tell you I have had many kinds of carrot cake in my life but his was out of this world. We made it our top layer to take home.

OMG i know, at first i was like hmmm sourdough but it was seriously AMAZING...fh kept eating it and was like OMG this is the best thing ever hahahaha. I think he might even like it more than his special request of the baileys cream, not by much lol bc the baileys cream was awesome too.

yup the top layer for us to take home is the carrot cake...we had some of it and i still have some at home, ill have it later

we did also taste one chocolate cake and it was very good, not where its too rich bc then i dont like it, it was still light.

yeah fh said we'll get to have the other flavors at the wedding, and we both love carrot cake so why not have that to save for later.
