California Recomendations.....

I am staying in Cali for a night (night one of our HM) and I've never been there before. We should be arriving early in the morning and won't be leaving until midnight of the following day... so we will be there for about 35 hours... and I wanted to do things; or as much as we could in that time.

We will be arriving in LAX... so in the hollywood area.

I need a hotel and also things to do. ANY suggestions are GREATLY appreciated!!!

You could always go yo Disneyland. they might be able to give you a HM discount. Depending on where you are, you can go to Manhattan beach and relax. I went this past July and that's all I can remember. HTH!!

When we went we did priceline.com and put that we wanted to stay at a 5 star resort and put a pretty low price, and ended up in santa monica and had a blast

you can go to wolfgang puck's restaurant when you are there, it was amazing. Santa Monica was really fun - you can bike on the pier, etc.

alot of it depends if you'll have a car or not. I've been there a few times but in April FH and I were only there for about 12 hours and we were able to go to the Walk of fame, went to Griffith Park to hike by the Hollywood sign, we also had time to go to the beach and drove up the pacific coast hwy, soooo pretty. The great thing about the Hollywood area is that everything is soo close. Universal Studios is there as well as other studio tours, theres the Santa Monica pier. Theres alot! just depends on what you guys like to do. Good luck

Thanks guys!

i don't think we will have a car. We will probably cab it from airport to hotel and back again.

Is everything in walking distance in Santa Monica? And there's a beach there too I hear. I'm leaning towards Santa Monica!

There is a TON to do in the Santa Monica area, all by walking distance! I love Santa Monica! If you're going to be staying in the LA Area though you could always go see the walk, chinese theater, kodak theater, etc, there's a bit to see in that area but none of it is spectacular. Still worth a look.

I wouldn't recommend Disneyland because to take a cab to get from LA to Anaheim would be gross especially in traffic, I don't want to think about the price. There are shuttles though that go from the airports to the resort area, so if you wanted to stay in Anaheim across from the park you could and do a day at Disney. They don't offer specials unless it's your birthday but it might be a nice thing to do for the day if you're into that!

EDA: You might have a better time going to City Walk. It's right in the Hollywood area and theres quite a lot to do there, along with Universal Studios, which is almost always running some kind of special where you can get in cheap.

Haha Chrissy... I don't know where half of these places are. I've NEVER been to Cali and know very little about it. We aren't going to do Disney. That's too much for our 35 hours there. And we aren't renting a car.

What is City Walk?? Is that in Santa Monica?

When we went to LA we stayed at 2 hotels.. I don't remember the first (FH would probably remember) but we stayed 2 nights at the Ritz Carlton in Marina del Rey. Come to think of it, I believe the first hotel was a Marriott.

They were both nice but the Ritz was awesome. I recommend it for a honeymoon.
