Call me a brat, but........ (the story just got better!)
I was a little shocked when yesterday we received a wedding gift in the mail from one of FH's aunts. The card was signed with her name plus like 7 other names. They're not attending the wedding, so it was nice of them to send a gift, but when FH opened the box, it was a piece of my crystal - ONE glass! I was like, you've got to be kidding me. How in the world could like 8 people send us ONE glass? FH's little stepbrother sent us 2 champagne flutes that he bought with his own money, but yet these people send us a glass?
It was just a little strange IMO.

Me and FH are thinking that maybe the aunt, who is like 70, bought the gift with her own money but then just signed all the names on the card (it was sent from Fortunoff). So if that's the case, then that's forgiveable!

if you want to be nice just put - thank you for the thoughtful gift. It was more appreciated then you could ever know - thats what I wrote on like 50% of my baby shower thank yous!

Maybe she thought she was sending more and there was a typo. Maybe it was supposed to be 12 and someone goofed. Why not call Fortunoff and see what happened?

Re: Call me a brat, but........
The packing slip that came with it said 'number ordered - 1, number shipped - 1'
These people are from the backwoods of Alabama too, so that could have a little something to do with it!

Re: Call me a brat, but........
That does sound really strange. Im def thinking there was a mixup somewhere. Maybe when they ordered it, they thought they were ordering the set. But that wouldnt make sense either because wouldnt the aunt have noticed the discrepancy when she paid the bill. I dont know, Im thinking out loud, but I would bring it to her attention.

I'd be glad they aren't coming. If all 8 came and gave you the one glass, imagine how you'd feel then.

That is SOOO strange. Maybe she thought it was a set
I just can't wait to see who turns out to be *the ones you talk about* at my wedding. I'm making predictions already.

Re: Call me a brat, but........
You're not a brat at all. I would feel the same way. My aunt and uncle sent me a vase for our engagement and wrote the names of their kids, their spouses and their children. These are adults we're talking about. They should have sent something, at least a card, on their own.

it's so different outside of NY...i wouldn't take it personally. weddings out there don't cost $40000, and gifts are generally less fancy
