Who did not use a calligrapher to address wedding invite envelopes? What did you do instead? TIA

Re: Calligraphy
I ordered my invites from 'Knot to be Forgotten' in Franklin Square. When we ordered the invitations we had the option of doing caligraphy, or having a machine do it. We opted to have the machine do it. It was a lot less expensive and it looked really great.

I am toying with this idea as well. I've also seen people print up addresses in a nice font on clear sticky labels and stick them on the invites. Not quite as fancy as calligraphy but you can do it yourself for much less $$.

I'm not using a calligrapher, my mom has fancy enough handwriting so I'm just having her do it. It really wasn't an expense I wanted to invest in.

Re: Calligraphy
I did hand calligraphy. My calligraphy artist was great and cost about the same or less than computer calligraphy.
I had a few invites returned and a few late ones to send out - Those I did the outer envelopes on my own computer in a calligraphy font. They came out great, but the lined envelopes didn't fit through the printer.
I don't like the idea of labels, so I wouldn't go that route. (My mom almost threw a wedding invite out that came with a label b/c she thought it was junk mail) I'd print directly on the envelope or handwrite them instead of labels.

We are not using one. We are going to just print them out ourselves onto the envelopes with the computer. I've seen this done and it still looks nice (not as fancy of course) and saves money that we can use on our honeymoon! :)

Do you have lined inner envelopes? If so, do a test run first. I have a really good printer, but they wouldn't fit through mine. They got bunched up and completely ruined each time I tried to run them through.

We had it done by machine at the place where we got the invitations but when we needed to make extra ones we tried it on our printer and it was perfect. I have a HP Riviera printer and they went through without a problem. Didn't do the inner envelopes so I don't know if that would make a different.

The outer envelopes aren't a problem. The inner, lined envelopes ARE. If you're doing them, I'd do a test run before you go through the pain of setting up all the addresses and inner envelope stuff just to make sure they'll fit through your printer.
If they're unlined or the outer envelopes only, it shouldn't be a problem.
