One of my best friends has lived with her grandparents up until recently.
Grandpa has cancer of the bone & bone marrow. His condition is literally killing him. It's an unfortunate site to watch/witness.
Anyway, here comes the picker upper. My girlfriend was pregnant with her first daughter when Grandpa was really sick. He was in ICU, and the doctor's had the priests come in and read him his rights.... Would you believe that he was so stubborn & wanted to be there for his FIRST great-grandchild's birth that the stubborn old goat hung around & is still kicking today fighting today to watch his granddaughter (my girlfriend) get remarried - 7 years later!!!!!!!!!
All this said, what I'm trying to tell you is that you need to keep faith, and things will work out the way that both you and your mom want!
Good luck to you and your mom - My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Re: CALLING ALL PRAYERS
Jen, only you and Matt can decide what it right for you. I don't want my opinion to sound insensitive in anyway. But in my heart, I really believe that you should go on with your wedding day no matter what. You said yourself that your wedding has been everything to your Mom, and having something to look forward to can sometimes lift an ailing person's spirits enough to make their bodies stronger. I think Matt's idea to get married twice is wonderful!!
As far as Tahiti - again, you have to decide what will make you more comfortable. Personally, I would not be able to enjoy myself knowing that I was so far away from my Mom while she is sick. I would postpone my trip and spend as much time as possible with my Mom. Tahiti will be there whenever you guys are ready.
I am so sorry that all this is happening so close to the big day. I am continuing to pray each and every day for your Mom!

JenHos
I really think only you can make this decision.
I really don't think I would enjoy a trip anywhere under these circumstances, but it might be just wha you need. Not to be a downer, and I hate to write it, but Tahiti will always be there - is that too forward. All I can think of right now is that if my mom was ill like your's is (and I am sure this is not a sudden illness) I would be selfish enough to want every minute I can have with her
Just my feelings - your last post about the two ceremonies really touched me
Be strong - do what ever you feel is right , and what your mom would want
My thoughts are with you

My thoughts and prayers are with you and your mom. I also think the decision about Tahiti is yours only. And as others have said, Tahiti will always be there.

Re: CALLING ALL PRAYERS
Jen-Hope your mom is doing better today. I hold her in my prayers. As for Tahiti, you asked so I'll respond. If it were ME I would postpone. You won't enjoy it if your mind is here. In the end it's what you and Matt want. Best wishes.
