Is it me, or is it hard to call your FH your fiancé? He's been my boyfriend for over 5 years... I keep forgetting that he's my 'fiancé'... then again, why should I get used to calling him that when I only have 3 months left before he's my hubbie?
Was just thinking about that this morning...

I call my FH my boyfriend and people correct me all the time. My response is that he will always be my boyfriend and my fiance or my boyfriend and my husband - does that make any sense? I feel like it keeps our relationship new (and we have been together for 6 years)!

I hate the word fiance. It sounds so tacky to me. I really don't have to introduce him to anyone anymore. Everyone knows him. But there have been a few times where I 'should' have used it and couldn't, there also were times where I did use it and wished I didn't. We should make up a new word. Any suggestions??

I call him my fiance when we are meeting new people... I just love to hear him say 'And this is my fiancee, Micheline' I think I will DIE the first time he says 'And this is my wife...'!!!!!
In referencig him in general conversation wiht other people, i usually say boyfriend or just use his name :)

i totally agree...boyfriend was so easy and husband will be great, but fiance just sounds so uppity, you know? like i was gloating that i had a fiance.
I feel the same way!!! Just feels weird....we're coming up on our 6 year anniversary and we'll be married next year...I guess i'm just used to saying boyfriend or by his first name!

I don't really like saying fiance but I'm trying to use it more. I think maybe because I'm young and I look really young that I feel funny saying it to people who I don't really know (because I feel like they look at me like I'm too young)-I don't know if that makes any sense. And something I feel that maybe it sounds like I'm bragging, I know I'm paranoid! But I love when I hear my FH call me his fiance so I'm trying to use it more too.

i AGREE WITH THE WHOLE 'PRETENTIOUS' THING. FOR AWHILE I WAS JOKINGLY CALLING HIM 'MY INTENDED.' PEOPLE GOT A KICK OUT OF THAT.
I WAS PURPOSEFULLY NOT SAYING IT IN THE BEGINNING, CAUSE I SOUNDED LIKE A SNOB, BUT MY FRIEND AT WORK POINTED OUT THAT IT IS THE ONLY TIME IN YOUR LIVES TOGETHER YOU CAN CALL EACH OTHER THE SAME THING. BOYFRIND/GIRLFRIEND HUSBAND/WIFE RELATIONSHIPS USE DIFFERENT WORDS TO DESCRIBE YOUR ROLES, BUT ONLY NOW CAN YOU BOTH CALL EACH OTHER FIANCE.
I KIND OF LIKE THAT.

I call him my Fiance, it was weird in the beginnng. But, I figured we can only call each other Fiance for a short amout of time. So I might as well enjoy it.

Wait until you have to switch to HUSBAND. The morning after our wedding, I was holding the elevator for my DH while he was grabbing something from a relative. A man started to get on the elevator, so I stepped off and said 'you can go ahead I am waiting for my fianc...uh..husband' I then went on to do that sooo many more times before HUSBAND finally sank in.

I've been married for almost a year and my DH still calls me his girlfriend...it's hysterical I always have to reming him that I am his wife now!

ME TOO!! and I HATE when people do that, it is not necessary I wear a ring and people who I want to know that we are getting married, do know. I am just so used to (after 5 years) calling him my BF. I think it is rude especially one lady in particular who says I should better appreciate that he wants to marry me and gave me a ring and be sure to call him my FI, well who made her God! LOL, I know it is silly but it annoys me.

I hate saying the word 'fiance' and so does FH so we still refer to each other as boyfriend and girlfriend.

LOL...I cannot get used to saying it..it sounds weird, I almost always say his name or my boyfriend

I don't know..I think fiance sounds uppity, but at the same time 'boyfriend' never adequately described our realtionship after a point. I mean when I was 15 I had a boyfriend and that was something completely different than what I have with FH, so it was hard after awhile to call him bf anymore...fiance is strange, but I'm getting used to it. We call each other husband and wife to be cute. I alos thing I'm gonna fall over when he first refers to me as his wife..WOW
