I was an active poster on this site, and I have decided to call the wedding off with less than 6 months to go.
We are two different people with different needs and wants.
there were things that bothered me that I chose to accept... now that the days to the wedding are dwindeing down .. I decided I can't live with them, and he has no desire to change, although I'm clinging to hope that he will. That''s whay I'm not posting as my normal screen name.
Idk where to turn, he called out BM and cancelled our hall today, he was told him to take a day to really think it through...

Im really sorry about everything you are going through. You shouldnt have to change for anyone and you need to just remind yourself that this was for the best and there is someone out there who is going to love you for you.
Good luck

Re: Calling off the wedding
i agree with the other girls - you should never have to change....if he doesnt love you for who you are than its his loss.....
dont worry about people who already bought dresses - they will get over it - its really not a big deal and if they make it a big deal well to bad for them - if they are your friends/family they should be supporting you during this time and YOU should be more important to them then a dress
we are all here to listen. im really sorry that you are hurting. i hate to hear that you called off the wedding but at the same time i am sure you know that it is better off this way. maybe you guys will work it out - maybe you won't but whatever happens its better than going through with a marriage that is doomed from the start. time apart will either bring you guys back together and make you stronger or it will give you the opportunity to find your true soulmate - so there is a bright side to all of this.....
once again, i am truly sorry - lots of hugs

Re: Calling off the wedding
The words you can never change someone are so true. You must be a smart woman and I bet if you follow your heart it will all end up OK. It is a loss and unfortunately time is what it will take to heal. I wish you all the best.

Re: Calling off the wedding
So sorry to hear - as someone who has gone through a divorce - i think your very wise to not go through with it if your not 100% certain. I made the mistake of trying to convince myself my ex-husbands would change or grow up and of course that didnt happen.
I learned the hard way that i was trying to convince myself of something that just wasnt there. And now i am finally marrying the man i should at 32.
Always be true to yourself and your feelings - in the end you will be happy! Good luck!!

Thanks everyone. I'm so hurt and starting to get freaked out, what am I going to tell my mom, and my friends that already bought their dresses. How does a fight turn in to the Wedding's off?
I think there must have been some underlying fears or something that led to that....just give it time! Let him see what life will really be like w/o u. Just let him be for now and marinade in his decision. They say time heals all wounds but time also wounds all heals....he'll realize it was a mistake and you guys will work it out, or you'll realize it was a blessing and move on as a happier person. Either way you will be ok! Good luck with everything and we'll be here for you!
Thanks. I was going to change who I was and I decided not to, and it's off at the next tiff
YOU SHOULD NEVER HAVE TO CHANGE WHO YOU ARE!!! The wole purpose of a marriage is that you ACCEPT that person for who they are...flaws and all...i think that's why maybe alot of marriages end in divorce because people believe that they can or will change and unless you have an addiction or are involved in something completely unhealthy, you should really never have to change who you are! If he didn't understand that, then maybe it is better that you guys are stepping back a bit. Were you together long?
I couldn't have said it better. Sometimes people get married knowing that things aren't right, but they go through with it anyway with the hopes that they can change someone. I dated a guy for 5 years and although I *loved* him, everyday I was trying to change him and he ended up resenting me for it in the end and we broke up. I wanted him to get a *real* job, and treat me better, be more sentimental, etc and the more I pushed these things ON him, the further I pushed him away... So I am POSITIVE you are an AMAZING woman and you will find a man that doesn't need to be changed, or that doesn't want you to change. We all deserve to have someone love us for the EXACT person we are, don't you agree?
Anyway, stay strong and hang in there. There is a bigger plan for you out there, I know it!
