Is anyone having disposable cameras on the tables? I'm debating whether or not to use them. Is is worth the extra expense? Do you really get good pictures?

We bought the Kodak disposables at BJ`s warehouse, and are having them developed at Costco, so the cost is quite reasonable (about $5.00 per camera and about $2.25 for a double set of 4x6 prints). We`ll have them back this weekend, so I can let you know about the quality next week. We decided to do it because I remember that we got some fun snapshots from my brothers wedding that way - some nice, candid guest shots that the photographer would not have captured. People tended to take a lot of shots of the others at their table. They are your typical 35mm snapshot, not professional quality, but still a great rememberance. Beware of some of the discounted bargain cameras on the wedding websites. Many are remanufactured meaning that the disposable shell has been reloaded with new film, something they were not designed for. I recall last year that one bride was very disappointed because the remanufactered cameras were flawed and light leaked in, leaving bright flash spots on the exposures, ruining them. I`d recommend paying a bit more for the Kodak or other name brand cameras. Also, the Kodak wedding cameras are 15 exposures, which is plenty. We had several that were not completely used, which we took on our honeymoon to finish up. At my shower, they had some 27 exposure cameras from WalMart which we ended up bringing to the rehearsal dinner to complete, since most had not used all the exposures. I`ll let you know next week about our results!

Thanks for the reply. My sister found cameras at BJs as well which is why the subject came up. Did they come with a card explaining to the guests what to do with the cameras or to leave them behind afterwards? I'd love to know how the pictures came out. Thanks!

Hi Maria; Yes, there is a card with each camera, explaining them, and we also asked the DJ to announce something about them too. There is a card in each box that is a script for the DJ, although they've become fairly common so I'm sure most DJ's and many guests are already familiar with them.

Disposable Camera Advice
Just a word of caution when purchasing any disposable camera or film. Please make sure that you check the expiration date. Expired film can also cause flawed photos. Also make sure that you store the cameras somewhere cool, like your refrigerator, especially at this time of the year. That will help keep the film fresh.

I have noticed that a lot of people don`t realize that they are supposed to take the pictures but leave the camera and they take the camera with them. If your intention is to have the pictures taken for you to keep I would make sure that your guests realize what the cameras are for.Welcome New Vendors
