Can a Matre D and Bridal Attendant be the same person??

I am a little confused. I haven't heard from my hall anything about a bridal attendant. They have spoken of the Matre D. Can a Matre D also have the same role of the bridal attendant??? Should I be worried??

I would guess that there are different people - but every hall probably differs.

If its the same person, I would expect he/she will be unable to do a particularly good job at being a bridal attendent with all the responsibilities of a maitre d. I'd consider hiring someone for the day of if thats the case, my bridal attendant was soooo helpful --- I don't know what I would have done without her!

That's what worries me. I need to ask and make sure that if they don't have a bridal attendant, I need to hire one. Sometimes, I could really kick myself for not thinking!!! Thanks Valenia!!

Many reception sites dont have bridal attendents. In fact, MOST in new york city do not because they are not really wedding centric.

Mine will be both kind of. My place don't have a bridal attendant but thats where my MOH comes in!

Chateau Briand offers a Matre D and bridal attendants, one for the bride and there was someone helping my DH.

I had it just like Natasha, they greeted us as we entered and they kept re-filling our glasses etc. The Maitre D was the one that made sure the schedule was going as planned and that everything was running smoothly.

We didn't have a bridal attendent. But we had a a waiter assigned just to our table that made sure we had dinner, drinks etc.

Personally, I don't agree with having a MOH fill this role unless money is super tight. I wanted my best friend in the world to be able to celebrate with me, not be busy running errands...

What are the responsibilities of the bridal attendant?? Is it to pamper you, so to speak??? Help with fixing make-up and hair and stuff????

My bridal attendants were the best and I think every bride should atleast have one...IMO. I know that family member and MOH can help but you want them to enjoy the reception too. When I need my shoes to be changed my BA was there, for drinks she was there, to help me bustle my dress they were there. They made all these things easier for me and others around me.

My bridal attendant helped me in and out of my dress when I had to go to the bathroom (glamorous I know!), set up my photos in the lobby, took cards from me and my hubby and put them in the safe about 25 times throughout the party, brought me water wherever I was in the room periodically, bustled my dress, helped me get my veil off, held up my train while walking around for pictures, chalked out a spot on my skirt before the ceremony, told me where to go when so I didn't need to think about it, ran to get whoever was missing for a photo, checked up on whatever I asked about, packed up some food for us to bring to the hotel, packed up all our belongings from the bridal suite, helped us load up the cars with gifts, served as a general calming influence over my day, and much more...

MY BA helped me do all the same things as Valenia...I def thing a BA is important. I don't think the Matre D should also be a BA because they need to make sure everything goes smoothly at your reception and attend to your guest.
