Can anyone tell me about glue manicures?

Can anyone tell me about glue manicures?

My manicurist suggested that I get a glue manicure on my next visit. My nails get weak and she said it would make them stronger and help my polish last longer.

I like having nice nails. Nothing too long...but I'm doing a lot of home improvements and they frey very easily. I just had to file them all down this morning.

I've never had anything other than a regular manicure before and was wondering if any of you ladies could enlighten me.

Thanks!

I think its when they use just glue on the nail and no wrap like acrylic, linen, glass. My manicurist told me I should do a glue manicure every other week, but I never do.

I got a permanent french about a month ago and they are still looking great. I am going friday to get them done, but almost a month and you cant even tell I need a fill in and the white perm part looks good

Thanks for the response!

Do you know if the glue is bad for your nails?

do you mean a Gel Manicure? I get them in b/w fill ins
they are cheaper, they put gel and glue but no silk wraps
if you have week nails, it helps to go get that rather than a fill in every other week

Forgive my ignorance....does gel in between fill-ins mean you have tips (or someting like that?)

She said glue - no tips, no fill-ins.

So sorry if I'm getting this wrong. This is all new to me.

I could be wrong but a glue/gel manicure is the same thing in my place

I have wraps, people w/ wraps and or tips can get a gel

Can a person get a gel manicure without wraps or tips?

Thanks for helping educate me.

never thought of that! ask the nail girl
maybe if your nails are long enough and you need them to be strengthened

I will definately ask. She never mentioned wraps or tips...hence my confusion.

Is gel better than glue? Better for your nails, I mean.

I've been bringing Develop 10 and having them put it on as a base coat. It works for a while...but I've been so hard on my hands with gardening, painting ,etc...that even with gloves they're breaking!

I'll ask more questions next time and will try nailtque (sp?) next time.

Thank you both for all of your help - really!

I think Gel/Glue is the same
but I guess if you ask for no gel and just glue they would do it

your welcome! there is nail tek, a knock off and Nailtique's both work good

A glue manicure is just that --they put a thin layer of nail glue over your nails--when I took off my wraps the girl did it(not my regular girl) and when i went to my regualr girl this week she told me it was not a good idea-- doesnt allow your nails to breath, etc-- so it is just like having wraps/gel/tips, etc--
and the week and a half I had the glue they were a little stronger but nothing compared to the wraps--so no more glue manicure for me---with that being said 2 of my nails have broken but at least they are healthier

Wow - I never realized our nails 'breathe' but I guess that makes sense.

I'll go buy some of that nailtque stuff and see how it works. For now, just call me stubby!

Thanks again for all of your helpful feedback!

Re: Karen

I have had both the glue manicures and silk wraps done at one time or another. The both had the same result.....VERY weak nails when removed. None of this stuff is 'good' for your nails. It just makes you nails stronger and the nail polish last longer when you have them.
